Controller not working?
Anyone else have issues getting this game to recognize their controller?

You should probably specify what kind of controller you are using if you are looking for assistance.

EDIT: To answer your question: Yes, I've had to fiddle around with it quite a bit and am not 100% sure how I made it work in the end.

Okay, a couple suggestions.

First are you in Steam's Big Screen Mode? If so, go to the controller settings and make sure your controller and Steam agree on what you have.

Otherwise this works 90% of the time
Start the game in full screen, non-windowed mode
Wait for prompt but do not respond
Instead, press Ctrl-Alt-Del (CAD).
The Task Manager window will pop up. Cancel out of it.

You should be working.

If it wasn't an Xbox controller I would suggest also checking drivers and such first.

Good Luck.

I've had it happen a few times, oddly enough a reboot would only fix it.

True, but posting here any standard W* user would have restarted first, and/or rebooted, and/or uninstall then reinstalled the game, verified the files and verified Steam. If any of those worked, they would not be here.

I was playing the game with no issues then all the sudden my controller just stopped working. Now it won't work at all. It's an Xbox Elite Series 1 controller.

A standard Windows user is not going to do all that for a problem that is occurring in only 1 game. The game is 7GB; uninstalling and reinstalling the entire game just because the controller stopped working is not a viable solution for everybody.

I think you assume too much of average steam clientele... LMAO, reboot? What's that???
But understand your logic and post, S!

Rebooting takes me about 5 minutes on my machine, this is far less of a time invest than coming on the forums digging for a solution that doesn't exist as of yet. Considering it happens to me maybe twice a month, I'll continue to do this.

Have you tried playing the game with your controller through Steams "Big Picture Mode"? I had some controller issues before and they stopped once I started running games, that i use with a controller, in big picture. Just make sure when you open big picture to go into settings and calibrate and set the system settings to the preferred plugged in controller.
