Steam no longer discounts DSR, why?
I had wanted to buy this game but for the past 18 months Steam refused to discount this game.
In return I just started playing DS2 again instead, not even Sins of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, just the base game.

They should consider actually applying reasonable discounts to games at least a few times a year, Dark Souls 3 goes on DEEP sale, every month or two.

If you look at price history the last discount was December 2019 at 50%, even Humble Bundle had it 50% earlier in the year but I held out cause I had other games to buy.

This is disappointing.

...

just buy it the next time it goes on sale at humble bundle?

would be one thing if you lived in a country without access to humble bundle, but you intentionally passed up a sale.

oh look there is a sale on right now: https://isthereanydeal.com/game/darksoulsremastered/info/

No need to be rude, it is a common trend over the last couple of years for Steam to stop discounting successful games that have been on sale for years.

Managed to grab the game for 13 euros, for some reason gamersgate doesn't show on any of the compare websites apart from that one, found the link on Reddit but I do appreciate it here too for others, they sold out after my purchase but looks like they restocked.

This is not a game that gets discounted, except to owners of PtDE.

We do get a lot of gamers expecting to get it for $10 or less - because. We get at least a dozen or two threads of entitled gamers, whining gamers, and of course broke gamers. Or those with broken currency exchange gamers. None of that has ever made a difference. Yet, Humble sales are routine.

I'll wipe up the entitlement slam if you'll do a little search before the next Steam Sale.

Narrator: Because DSR won't be on sale. Beyond our control.

The game was on sale 7 times in 2019 and once at the start of 2020, and the last discount was 50% and the four discounts before that was 40%

I am not quite sure you even understand what you are saying, the game used to go on sale frequently, it still goes on sale on other platforms, this is a Steam greed issue not a gamer or developer.

Steam has a trend of discontinuing discounts on games that get a bit of buzz or success post launch via updates and such, not sure why they decided to stop discounting this game but as I said it has seen 50% before.

Steam/VALVe has nothing to do with non-VALVe games and their sales. Publishers are in full control of their prices and decide what goes on sale and what doesn't.

BANDAI NAMCO screwed up the way they've implemented the PtdE owner discount and for whatever reason are too lazy to fix that. The PtdE-owner discount and Steam sale percentages will straight up add together. 50% Steam sale would result in DS:R being 100% off for PtdE owners, which at this point...yeah, they should just roll with that. Maybe get a sliver of goodwill back from people who suffered through one of the worst PC ports of the past decade.

I was under the impression that Steam dictates the sales % and the developer either accepts or declines, though that was years ago and may have changed.

Good insight none the less, I got the game for 60% off so I will start once I finish DS2 but the developers are losing money here, I would have bought this on Steam summer sale if it were anywhere from 30-40% based on it being on Humble recently for 50%.

I hope the PTDE discount continues to stack during the next sale. I would pay $10-$15 for the remaster. I have the PTDE, but $20 is a bit steep for a remaster that is improved in some ways but downgraded in others. It's not even a straight upgrade for PTDE owners.

People forget that this remaster is 3 years old now, and the original is 10 years old and not a lot changed. Plus DS2-SotFS and DS3 can be found for under $10 on sale, which makes this not that great of a value for a lot of people. As much as I like this game, it is hard to ask $40 for basically a 10 year old game. To put this in perspective, you can get the Mass Effect Legendary Edition on sale with 3 games for only $10 more and it just came out.
