That being said, mods that hook into the graphic's API, like ReShade shouldn't cause a softban. I use an On-Screen Display and monitoring tool, that also does this for a decade now. For texture-mods, it depends how it's applied. If they use iGP11, they should be safe, since it's also an API-hook.
Texture mods using UXM are apparently safe as well, if the modder doesn't change any of the game's parameters on top of just replacing textures.
In any case, you can mod to your hearts content, if you play in offline mode, without having to worry about getting softbanned. Use a separate savefile for this to be on the safe side. Also, softbans only apply to a Steam account, not license, meaning that they're very easely dodged (hence why DS2, 3 and R are cheater infested to the brim).

Today, NO.
Nothing gets you banned anymore.
EDIT: I got banned couple months ago because I reverted back some character stats online (was a dare). Gone through the unban process. Got out clean but I guess it's a one time thing.
I'll admit being the first with a crusty reply when somebody asks to be spoon fed an answer they could easily look up, or posting a graphics problem with no system specs...
It's more the harsh tone that he took while being wrong.
Did you mod the game, use reshade, install textures or otherwise alter the game files?
Were you invaded and picked something up the invader dropped?
Cheaters can invade and cast a hacked spell at you, or leave object that will cause softban, but you are "new" player and wouldn't recognize it.
You'll need to contact Bandai Namco support and explain. Look it up.
