So... Is new londo ruins worth exploring?
Hey! This is my first DS1, playthrough and it is so far going pretty well, or so i thought until i found new londo ruins, i started exploring it after capra demon and sprinting through valley of drakes, but there is a problem. Those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ghosts they are really really not fun to fight and are stressful to boot, i have a limited amount of those curse items that allow me to fight them, but if i keep dying ill be left with none. so the question stands, should i just grit my teeth and go through this area or should i come back later? are here any required items because if it is possible... i'd prefer not to come back here.

without spoiling anything: you are in fact required to clear that area. but it's generally a good idea to do other areas first. New Londo is only relevant in the late game.

Thanks but i set myself the challenge of doing all my first Dark souls runs solo, but maybe you'll find my summon sign down the path, keep an eye out of Bael :)

It is a required area, as others have already said, but once you get to what would be considered the late-game, it's worth your time to look around! There's 1/2 really good items that you could get ahold of, though one of them might not be useful depending on the build path you're going down. There are is a way to get your hands on more transient curses though, don't be afraid to do some suicide runs through the area just to scout stuff out!

Ill keep that in mind, thanks :)

I was actually a bit scared to ask for advice, i was expecting a train of "Get good" , i heard a lot of horror stories that the most toxic part of the dark souls community recided in DS1, but so far i've only found helpful people, which is just awesome.

Why? Are you afraid of ghosts, is that it?

You are throwing away a good amount of loot. Plus you can never finish the game, but you do you - I guess.

You misunderstand. Yes, the ghosts at this point in the game are annoying as hell, they are a bit too hard to deal with for me.

And its not like i'm not gonna come back, i just wanted to know if it was best to go through the area now or go somewhere else like the dephts or blighttown and then come back later when i can reliably fight the ghosts without getting penetrated from all sides.

Edit: afraid of ghosts? please, if i can go through bloodborn without getting scared these cartoony ghosts wouldnt scare me even if i was 6 years old again.

How are they stressful? Just kill them. They can be killed. And New Londo is a mandatory part of the game.

If something is stressing you then you should just kill it. It solves all my problems for me when I do that.

As people above have said, you can poke your nose in early and get some good stuff, but you're really not "supposed" to go there until after you have the Lordvessel and have killed <spoiler> in order to be able to even fight the Four Kings.

As for Transient Curses, equip one of the Serpent Rings when you fight ghosts and they'll drop more of them than you use. My last time through, I ended up +12 without ever buying any from a merchant. I suppose surplus humanity would also serve if you didn't find the rings in <spoiler> or <spoiler>.

FWIW the "git gud" memes and all that are (mostly) ironic, the community in my experiences for the several years I've been around it are pretty welcoming, but stuff like this can always be a mixed bag :praisesun:

I know what it means, im a souls veteran by this point :P i have even thrown the "Get good" out there sometimes to my friends, because in all reality, it is the best advice a souls player can get. No weapon, piece of armor og spell will make it an easy experience, only ones own skills.

Don't bother listening those who says that "you just kill them". Better keep the curses left for a more advanced part of the game, especially because there are "easier" areas that you should go through, like, as you said, the Depths or Blighttown. Leave New Londo for later, trust those who said that and ignore the "git gud" ones
