The closest you could count as a balance change is changes to the matchmaking (now also weapon level dependent and password matchmaking scales down summoned player if they're too high level comparatively).
-Backstab angles appear to be larger, funny enough. I haven't really gone into trying to check too much, but it at least seems that way. I assume this has to do with 60fps but who knows.
-Some weapons which could previously combo kick -> r1 (Halberd, Spears, and some others), no longer have that combo. This is because of 60fps and QLOC not properly modifying the animation data for them to suit the framerate increase
-Curved Swords (Aside from QFS) have a much more powerful stunlock. Again, due to 60fps and how it affects animation recoveries. You can just about infinite stun someone if you get them near a wall, now.
-Lack of dead angles and ghost strikes means that blocking is as strong as ever. Pushes the focus of many fights further towards positioning and backstabs. Especially makes weapons like Murakumo and QFS worse, tho they're still decent enough in their own right.
CB still reigns supreme as usual
You all wouldn't believe how much hate mail I got from playing Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, and Dark Souls 2 on PS3. I'm talking a few hundred hate mails between the 3 games. Estimated 300+. The hate mail was the only reason I kept playing those games. I thought it was hilarious how salty people got over losing at a game, and I even had some death threats. I gave one of them my actual address, just for the lulz.
I lose interest in the souls games after they start nerfing stuff. Happened in DS2, and DS3.
DS3 is so boring and dull, that I don't think anyone even PVPs that game anymore. It's overbalanced. They've balanced that game into pure mediocrity. Every single time a small subset of the community cried about a weapon being OP, they nerfed it. Every. Single. Time. And this is part of the reason why I expected them to totally screw the Remaster of DS1.
If you like the big weap + hornet ring strat then Remaster is just fine. Pretty much completely unchanged. Oh except BKGA no longer has kick -> unlocked 2hr1 combo. GClub plays same as always though.
Oh also except that the game is mostly dead.
Totally wrong.
The only "balance change" they've done is correcting dead angling so that it doesn't hit through shields any more. It's still difficult to parry someone who angles their strikes though.
Vamos has a bonfire now for whatever reason. Humanity no longer heals in PVP rendering it mostly worthless. Everyone gets Estus in PVP making it even easier for the host. In real Dark Souls phantoms didn't have access to Estus so if they wanted healing they had to pop humanities, use spells, or the host had to use one of their Estus drinks to heal. Speaking of making things easier for the host aside from invasions being nerfed they decided to go with DS3's cancer Weapon Level and Soul Level matchmaking that is also bypassed by Password Summoning. You can't twink to invade low players, but low players can bring in 4 meta level phantoms for you to have fun with. No that's not a typo, the maximum number of phantoms for the host is 4 now with Dried Finger. Dried Finger is sold by the Male Undead Merchant. Yes the very first merchant you meant in Undead Burg.
For which they were and still get backstabbed, either losing everything they healed or getting their heal interrupted and, most likely, killed
If you're about to tell me that getting fully healed as soon as you hit the ground after a backstab is a good mechanic - i'm gonna break your neck
Unupgraded chaos and lighting that oneshots people on low SL anyway matches with +5, which most people acquire before fignting gargoyles.
Also dark bead oolacile catalyst
6 MP slots max for a world, one is always a host, that leaves 2 slots for summons and 1 for an invader, or 3 for summons and 2 for invaders with finger active.
Oh and invaders having estus, but we had humanity anyway and estus is more convenient as you don't have to farm for it.
Wow! That sucks!
2. It's Rats and Humanities in the Abyss that drop humanities. (I can't remember anyone else useful for this purpose. Anyone?)
