Fastest and safest soul farming for a magic build?

I've been grinding giant sentinels at the start of Anor Longo because Soul Spear (and later on GHSA) one-shots them netting 4,500 - 9,000 souls per run, completely relaxing and risk-free.

I'm wondering if there's any faster way to acquire many souls, or if I just accidentally stumbled upon a well-known grinding spot.

if you have an area damage spell at your deposal try the painted world of ariamis

Grinding the Phalanx is the Painted World of Ariamis is a great for souls. Very close to the bonfire once you open up the shortcut.

If you have some nice AoE damage, then the spear wielding mobs in the courtyard in the painted world is a good place.

The hunters in Darkroot Forest is also a good place.

But if you are tired of farming mobs you can always just use soul dupe. Change order of your items so you have a boss soul and your estus flasks at the top of the item list. Do a backstab or parry on a mob, like a hollow soldier or warrior. During the animation you open your item inventory, use the boss soul, open the item inventory again and use an estus once the option to 'use item' gets available. Then then game asks you if you want to use the boss souls, pick yes, and voila, you gained the souls from the boss soul, but used up an estus instead. If you play a male character, you can use a 1-handed weapon, but if you use a female character you probably need to 2-hand a weapon. Repeat for profit.

Definitely the Phalanx in the Painted World. Both variants of Soul Spear, and Dragon's Breath take them out fairly easily.

That's a way faster method to get souls. I just tried it out and it's very easy to do with keyboard/mouse.

When doing this you are however using up all the souls/humanities, so it can be a good idea to drop your additional souls/humanities in the bottomless so they can be used later.
