Invasions are pointless in this game as a result. If you want DS1 PVP you're going to have to play PTDE and not this degenerate version.
DBs and Mushrooms were limited items per playthrough, so anyone using a ridiculous amount was obviously cheating. 99 humanities and twin humanities are the result of farming. If you allow someone to burn through 200 humanities in a fight I'm just going to say both of you are bad and deserved that eternal stalemate.
You don't need to cheat to get huge stacks of those items, you can get them from other players or play through the game multiple times once and then either transfer it to other characters or create backups once you have the full stack. And my point was that stuff like this was changed in the Remaster because an experienced invader with 400+ healing items versus someone on their first playthrough is just unbalanced, doesn't matter how many of them are used.
An experienced pvp player doesn't need that many healing items vs. a scrub. They just pubstomp those. The reason they used humanities over Estus was it was faster and therefore safer. You know what happens if you sip in a 1v1. They close distance and back stab you for the health you thought you were going to gain back.
Guess what? An invasion is supposed to be unbalanced. I am forcing my way into your world with the sole purpose of killing you or disrupting your progress for my own personal gain and in this game because I'm an Invader all of the hostile NPCs are on my side. Twinking and bullying were just part of the game. All they do are encourage you to get that same stuff so you can do that if you choose to. If you quit a game over being spanked by someone who's obviously been playing it longer then you do not have the motivation needed to get better at this game or any game in the series.
*edit*
No one asked for these changes from PTDE to Remastered. All people wanted was working multiplayer without the need for mods and modern resolutions. Some QoL improvements are fine. Putting a bonfire down in the Catacombs next to Vamos is fine. Gutting most of the aspects of PVP in favor of PVE players isn't. There are a ton of things they could have fixed or added that people would have loved. The Remaster's dev team must have used a monkey's paw for what we got. It's not just the healing either, it's giving Hosts a third phantom, lowering invasion windows to make red invasions less fun and blues entirely pointless, allowing Covenant change at bonfires makes Forest Hunters get less matches etc.
what's the result, the exact same experience i hate in ds3 with healing reds and overly long fights . well a bit less in DSR since at least chugging and walking isn't possible.
i don't mind getting killed if i can't outmatch a foe, but being beaten because the guy keep running away and chug everytime i'm low on stamina...
everything being flasks is better balance and is more interesting. throw a lloyd's sometime. if anything, i think it actually makes phantoms a bit easier to kill -- they can't just turtle while the host works on his 20 pack.
