It is the fault of your rig, not the game, I asume. Sounds like a problem with your USB ports/driver/chip.

Had this prob the other day, just quit game, quit steam, unplug controller, if using bluetooth, plug in charger, then unplug, at least the PS4 controller will shut off. Start steam, start controller, start game, controller works.

Basically restart steam, the driver is from Steam. I'm not sure restarting controller helped, but did it anyway.

It's the game's fault, not his PC lmao. I had the same issue on Win 8.1 with my PS3 controller and several different drivers and ways of connecting the controller to the PC. The controller worked perfectly fine, DS:R just stopped recognizing it after X amount of relaunches and only a reboot would help. Stop blaming people for From's and the other studio's mistakes. DS3 to this day has issues with having multiple monitors connected to your PC on 8.1, but works perfectly fine on 10. No other souls game has this issue nor does any other game I own. I don't think it makes sense for them to fix a rare issue like this considering only 2% are on 8.1, but it's nonetheless stupid. Borderlands and Fallout have piss-poor optimization, TF2 has spaghetti code unlike L4D2 and CS:GO and BF1's performance has become worse over the years. It's not the people's fault, it's on the developers for being lazy ♥♥♥♥♥.

I am not sure if that works. If you're using Steam to make your PS4 controller work then maybe, but I've never had luck with only restarting Steam. Always had to reboot my PC. The controller worked fine, it was just DS:R not recognizing it anymore.

I'd recommend you don't relaunch the game as much or maybe go on Windows 10. Since I switched to 10 I haven't had it happen. It might be one of those legacy issues that reside on 7 and 8.1. I've definitely restarted DS:R 5+ times since I made the switched without rebooting my PC and haven't had issues since. If you're on 7 or 8.1 just buy a pro key off ebay or cdkeys. I can link you some articles for QoL fixes for Win10 if you want to. Makes it a lot better in terms of UI and usability.

That time when my controller didn't work on DS:R, I launched DS3 to try, controller works in DS3, launch DSR again to try, did not work. So yes did have to do with DS:R actually. But rebooting Windows does make it seem like some kind of driver issue somewhere, it even could be the controller itself, those things are not beyond having issues, maybe DS:R cannot handle that type of thing while DS3 could lol I don't know, reaching here.
