getting the Murakumo?
Hey, can you get the Murakumo and or the darkwood grain ring if you kick shiva and his ninja boy of the cliff in the forest or into the swamp in blighttown. and will you lose access to the forest hunter covennant if you kill them that way?

If you kill Shiva for the Murakumo, his ninja friend (for the flip ring), or any of the unnamed hunters in the forest you will be kicked out of the Forest Hunter covenant and of course the remaining hunters will aggro on you. If you also want the Black Bow of Pharis from the Archer Hunter do it all in one trip. She's not the hard to kill but you have to take out the claymore knight guy who's near her first and then deal with her incessant back-pedaling (i'm assuming you killed all of the other hunters before this too). You can absolve your sins with the help of Oswald in the Undead Parish (past the Gargoyles boss arena) and be allowed to join the covenant again. Be careful though because apparently if you interact with Alvina AFTER breaking the covenant by attacking or killing a member she will disappear for the rest of the playthough. THAT'S when you could lose access to the Forest Hunter Covenant.

You can farm the murakumo from the giant skeleton in the graveyard in Firelink Shrine instead. Much better than killing a npc for a single one when you can get plenty from them :praisesun:

That's a good point. I remember being pretty surprised when a Murakumo dropped from a Giant Skeleton in the Tomb of the Giants. I frequently forget that a Giant Skeleton in the graveyard even exists though (I usually only awaken him if I'm getting the Zweihander). I think there are two Giant Skeletons there though right? One awakens when you loot the Zwei and the other when you loot the Winged Spear?

Nice! I'll keep that in mind if I ever do a Murakumo build. I've only ever used a Murakumo in Dark Souls 2 and it was pretty fun (I haven't had a chance to play Dark Souls 3 yet but when I do i'll be using mainly greatswords and greathammers :steammocking:).
