Offline mode?
Anyone know how to play offline? I'm kinda sick of getting invaded on my way to fight the boss, because I wanted to summon an NPC. The invaders seemed way stronger than me, too. Something must be up with the matchmaking.

As in offline mode in steam or an option in game? Cause I wanted to just summon solaire before I got invaded.
You can set your game ingame to offline. ( in your network settings) After this: quit to the menu and reload. Voila, your game starts offline, but still you are online on Steam.
Then you can summon Solaire. But don't forget to change your settings after the bossfight, you would maybe miss some smart orange messages)

It is, they just showed you the risk of being human before bosses. Remember it and do some anti-twink when you got gud

It really does suck, the game designers didn't account for twinking when creating the invasion mechanic so to say that 'being twinked is a risk of being human' is just apologetic. What's meant to happen is you're supposed to be invaded by someone of equal stats/skill.

Op, that toxic sword can be obtained on a fresh character without killing a single enemy by doing a drop in the catacombs and joining a covenant. Yes it sucks that experienced players with this kind of knowledge prey on newbies but for a video game at 7 years old, it's kind of expected.

sure, I bet ....their intention was clearly not to make things hard or traiterous or more-dimensional, they wanted an ordinary superficial game to be played through once without the risk of dying too often. They also decided to carefully avoid emotions of the dark side of humanity. Actually the games initial name was "Bright Souls". But then they horribly failed, by accident and poor basic faulty design ideas, they made the best out of it though and changed the name.

Their design achieves all of these things, being invaded by someone your level and being killed by them is still hard and traiterous.

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Huh I didn't know that. Yeah, I just wanted some NPC help for the fight, without getting fought on the way to it. Thanks a lot!

What do hostess twinkies have to do with this game?

The sweet salt, just like in the old days.

Seriously, chillout. You can be glad you are playing the remastered version, there are anti twink mechanics implemented, so the guy who invaded you didn't have +15 pyro gloves and similar weapons, he just used the +0 Nito's Greatsword, which everybody can get 20 minutes into the game ones you've gotten familiar with the game's level layout and mechanics.

You died. Was that a surprise? You are playing Dark Souls! Would you have felt better if the guy killed you with a broken straight sword? Because I'm sure he had more experience then you and could have achieved even that!

You get a timer and can't get invaded again for a short time (maybe except if you are the only guy left in his invading range in that area then you might get invaded sooner), so just repeat what you did.

Or maybe I want to play it by myself and still experience the challenge without some toxic dude online emoting after every kill before I can even get to the boss door, which also has a slew of annoying enemies along the way? Is that too much to ask?

Good old toxic steam discussion replies^

Only play online mode when you want to, my friend. You can turn off the auto log in in the menu.

It is too much to ask for, because it is part of the game and you are not entitled to force your believe as to how the game should be played on others.

Did you even meet the guy a second time? Is your thread even relevant anymore? Have you beaten the Gargoyles?

Your profile says "I have to deal with stupid people pretty regularly. " I'm not sure if you are one to judge people about being "toxic".

Lol I mean that's a fine attempt at creeping my profile. Typical of some dirt bag that wants to throw shade. Yeah I edited in the original post that he invaded me immediately after, that was the annoying part. If you didn't have anything helpful to say, you could have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off if you didn't want to be useful like these other fine gentlemen were.

My profile description is a joke between my friends and I, not sure how that was relevant in your mind. But if you have nothing better to do than argue about this...

And no it's not relevant now, steam just doesn't let me delete discussions for some reason
