Edit: heavy Armor style
i never liked the looks of havel, but it still carried me through my first four kings fight, so thats something :)
Giants full set is 91 poise for 42.1 wieght.
Havals full set is 121 poise for 50 wieght.
Havals wins hands down for poise I am afraid.
the thing is you dont need 121 poise...80 is enough and the giant set has even more. furthermore, the giant set has a lower weight and most importantly the best physical protection of any armor set in the entire game, which is the most common damage type in pve and pvp.
Giant armor has the highest physical defense in the game, is lighter than many other heavy armors and has good poise. It is a very good armor, however the giant dad meme build uses it because it allows 77 poise with heavy armor while allowing fast rolling.
Many builds can use the giant set, but the giant set does not equal giant dad.
Not argueing that.
I was pointing out that Havals has the highest poise not the Giants.. even if you take poise to wieght ratio. Some posts were saying Giants set had the highest. This was wrong.
But really you normally don't need over 61p so it's mainly for the defense.
Havel's has more poise. Giant Set has the best armor rating + poise to weight ratio. It's technically the best set in the game when it's +5. On top of this with FaP & Havel's Ring you only need 66 end to fast roll with a Zwei and a Crest Shield. All crest shields weigh the same and the Zwei can be freely swapped to any weapon of equal or less weight (shield too).

91 poise is less than 121. That's the Havel Set from DS3 btw. Poise doesn't even exist in that game so it has a poise rating of 0. In Dark Souls 1 Havel's set has 121 poise.
Smough's set is equal to Giant Set in poise only. It's heavier and has worse defense and damage reduction than Giant Set. Giant Set is technically inferior to Havel's set as well from flat stats but the weight difference makes Giant Set superior because it's easier to build a character that can exploit the armor and be able to use shields and weapons while fast rolling.
Nice meme
