What is the exact drop rate for Titinate Slabs?
I've actually maxed out on Chunks trying to farm Slabs in New Londo

Here's an idea of the drop rate.

I've been playing Dark Souls since the game was released for PC. After I got good, I played almost everyday for 1-2 hours a day, because I was working on speedruns. For my runs, I use normal enhancement, so I get all the large and very large embers, use the normal titanite, etc. I don't like to use BK weapons like all the "pros" do. So, for my runs I end up killing at least a few Dark Wraiths for spare chunks, so I've had hundreds of opportunities to get a Slab.

Anyway, I have accumulated about 1,400 hours on Dark Souls while experimenting with speed runs. Then, last week, I decided to just do a casual run and I was tooling around in Londo with zero humanity, and no item find ring. First Dark Wraith I kill drops a slab. I literally have never seen that before and I was so stunned that the next Dark Wraith killed me after I picked it up.

So, the drop rate is 1 slab, every 1,400 hours.

You're welcome.

Meanwhile... in Dark Souls 2...

Enemy drops:

Dropped by the Prowling Magus & Congregation boss in Brightstone Cove Tseldora.
Dropped by the Crystal Lizard in front of the bridge leading to Drangleic Castle.
Dropped by Stone Soldiers in Drangleic Castle.
Dropped by Stone Knights in King's Passage.
Dropped by two Crystal Lizards in Dragon Aerie. One near the first dragon (first Lizard in the open area), another one near the third (on a platform).
Dropped by the Imperfect's in Dragon's Sanctum.
Dropped by the Afflicted Graverobber, Ancient Soldier Varg, Cerah the Old Explorer boss in Cave of the Dead.
Dropped by Iron Warriors.
Dropped by Bell Keeper Covenant Phantoms

Chest and Corpse locations:

Underneath the room in Forest of Fallen Giants where you get ambushed by multiple Ballistae. Use a Pharros' Lockstone to find a secret wall with a Slab inside a chest.
Inside a wooden chest in the acid pool in Drangleic Castle. Bonfire Intensity 2+ only.
In Dragon's Sanctum, inside a chest in the room with the first two Sanctum Knights.
Behind some boxes near the Life Ring +3 chest in Brume Tower.
one in a chest in Eleum Loyce, the room with the many chests that have to be unfrozen by alsanna

Other sources:

One is received as a reward for reaching Rank 1 in the Bell Keeper covenant.
One is given to you by Steady Hand McDuff after spending 14,000 souls on his services (must be services like reinforcement or repair, not items in his stock). You can also kill him for the Slab.
Possible to receive when trading Small Smooth & Silky Stones, Smooth & Silky Stones or a Petrified Somethings with Dyna and Tillo in Things Betwixt.

Lol. I love how common they are in Dark Souls 2. it feels good that it's so easy to fully upgrade so many regular weapons. The best part is that you get a titanite slab from a metal chest in the intended first area of the game, the Forest of the Fallen Giants (you need a pharaoh's lockstone to access it but that's easy to get and if you start as the explorer class you start with a pharaoh's lockstone in your inventory).

Not to mention, the Stone Knights spawn infinitely, meaning you can have as many slabs as you want in DS2.

Yup. It's awesome. They have hardly any magic resist and average physical defense so whether you're a strength build, dex build, or sorcerer/hexer/cleric/pyro build they're pretty easy to kill (if you don't aggro a bunch of them at once).

Edit: the stone soldiers (those are the ones you encounter after the first Drangleic castle bonfre) supposedly have high lightning, fire, and magic resist but I don't recall ever having trouble with all of those damage types. They and the stone knights are weak to dark damage though.

Indeed!

Though in DS2, I'm always in short supply of Chunks. Slabs aren't a big deal because of how demanding Chunks are

Well the Coal Tars (aka Darksuckers, neither are good names for the enemy though imo) drop titanite chunks. They also drop large titanite shards so unfortunately chunks aren't guaranteed when loot does drop.

Also Chloanne will sell unlimited titanite chunks after you beat Nashandra.

But yeah, feels like I'm maxing out Chunks in about an hour of farming. I have high damage output to quickly kill the Dark Wraiths with either one or two hits, max item discovery, and homeward boning (hehe) back to the Darkroot bonfire. Still no Slab. They're pretty stingy with these things, huh?

I haven't played dark souls 1 for maybe a week or two now because a windows 10 update made it run even worse than usual (even with dsfix installed and configured to my liking) but in all my time with dark souls 1 I maybe have only gotten a slab from them once. I mean I have gotten two dark hands in ONE farming session before. If you get lucky with drops from dark wraiths it's inevitable that you'll get a dark hand.

Lol I'm cluttered with Dark Hands. I only really need two if I want to dual wield them
Taco Cat Jun 26, 2018 @ 4:18pm
Heh, I have less hours than Harrison and I've gotten more slabs from Darkwraiths than he has.

Ugh, I finally found a Slab. Let's see. I had about 80 Homeward Bones when I started to farm and I'm down to 42. So About 40 runs through New Londo for one Slab. I need a drink

One of the titanite lizards in the great hollow seems to drop it fairly often for me, just an fyi.
