Backup your saves, seriously.

The Steam/Reddit community is full of people complaining about hackers. While I certainly understand the frustration of hackers and BAMCO/QLOC/FROM'S lack of transparency on this issue, its nothing new. The solution remains the same, use a save back up tool constantly.

Simply download the .EXE off of Github and follow the authors directions. (If using Windows 10 you will need to allow Access)

To manually back up saves: Step 1: Go to Documents > NBGI > DARK SOULS REMASTERED > FOLDER with numbers (this differs for every player) > DRAKS0005.sl2
Step 2: Copy/Paste the DRAKS0005.sl2 file to a desired location OUTSIDE of the main save folder (also, preferably back up the saves when in the main menu/or out of game or risk corruption) I reccomend backing up your saves every 30mins-1hr to be safe.

PSA: while steam does feature Cloud saves for the Remaster, that save will simply be updated with your hacked character. So these Tools are still highly recommended.

This series finally has cloud saves after not having them for ds2 and ds3 and when it returns you still have to put your saves on a flash drive or else risk a soft ban... beautiful

seriously, for any game. I'm just tired of people crying over lost playtime due to hackers and having their threads get shot to the top becuase people love complaining despite souls games always having this issue. Even if they dont ever meet a hacker in their time playing, there's a good chance a save could be corrupted. especially if they are Alt+ F4'ing alot.

To be honest, there's more a reason to complain that it's still an issue despite so many releases. Similar to camera problems, it's one of those things I look at From and think "c'mon, this is STILL a problem?"

But thank you nontheless for sharing this. If From can't resolve the issue of hackers then as a player it's better to be proactive about it and back up saves. Glad to see this was updated to be compatible with the Remaster.

you should put step by step guide in post if you want us to do so

Check for an NBGI folder in documents. Then Dark Soul Remastered, then click on the folder with a bunch of numbers. The save file is called DRAKS0005.

Either use the tool linked, which will store your saves in a .RAR file that you unpack and drag and drop into your save folder. or, simply go to your save folder, copy then paste into a desired location OUTSIDE of the main save folder.

Also, people have every right to be upset and angry with how this was handled, especially becuase they have plenty of experience on the PC platform now. I just think repeat threads will solve nothing. Emailing/Tweeting FROM/BAMCO/QLOC with video/visual evidence directley has a much better effect, especially in mass. Even then, its safe to asume we as players are on our own in regards to solutions unfortunatley.

Updated with steps, I personally keep my hard back ups in a folder on my desktop with each game having its own folder for sorting.
