Astora's Straight Sword Work for End Game?

So... I know that a lot of people say Astora's Straight Sword is great early game but there are much better weapons later. Thing is.... I really like it. It looks great and has a good move set. Even if it is not the best weapon, can it still be a pretty good end game weapon?

I am currently 24 str, 12 dex, 40 faith. If I make it a divine weapon and pump faith to 50, will it be a viable end game weapon? Or is that not the best option?

Astora straight sword is an unique weapon, so it doesn't get that much stronger and can only be upgraded to 5.

Are you going to ONLY play with the meta weapons? there are like 4, one for each size category.

IF you like the sword use it. its a straight sword so it has a good move set, and has unique properties. it can do great at the end game. there are some that will be harder to kill with, but the only thing that matters is if it is fun.

yes if your patient beyond a normal person and don't mind fights taking a very long time. Any weapon fits the case then, even broken straight sword(assuming you can dodge well).

well why use any weapon other then Zwei then? All weapons can be made to do well, and i would not worry about if a weapon can be used to finish the game, the broken swords have a place in the game as challenge weapons, but really even they are not that bad.

well... if it is doing far far less damage than say... a normal divine +10 long sword or a Divine +10 mace, then it's just not worth it. I was hoping it would atleast be comparable. To be honest... I'm not even sure divine is the way to go. I figure since I am such a strong faith build it made sense... but this is my first time playing.

Try the Balder Side Sword (Divine / Occult) and / or Normal +15 used in conjunction with the sunlight blade miracle, since you're going for faith.
That is, if you like straight swords. The reason why I prefer it is because it has, I think, the longest range out of all straight swords.

It scales like ♥♥♥♥ and has split damage. I only use it if I want to do catacombs super early.

If you can hold off for a bit more, dark sword has a great moveset and scales extremely well.

Unfortunately it's terrible. A Divine Longsword quickly becomes strictly better than the Astora Sword. I think it's the prettiest sword ever too, but it's one of the few weapons in the game with absolutely no niche whatsoever.
