So is there no level cap for invaders this one?
I dont recall there really being one in the original since the first time i played 3 hours in i had a guy show up, was doing like 5 damage to him and then blew me up. Just now I had a guy show up who either just had really OP armor and a weapon or was far higher level, being he ate my +10 broadsword like candy and then he took me down with his flame gargoyle halberd. wasnt really trying against him after i realized i wasnt doing ♥♥♥♥ for damage to him

The game has weapon memory like dark souls 3 but you can fully upgrade armor and its not afected and you can invade anywhere as long as you scale your wp upgrade.

Invaders are always same or lower level as you. Weapons can't be much better than yours either.

Ah i see then, must mean my broadsword isnt as viable a pvp weapon as it was for me in DS3 then

I don't wanna scare you or anything, but there are also cheaters in the game. There are also buffs, rings, etc, so I dunno if someone can make a melee resistand build, but there is a chance that the problem isn't your weapon.

Do you have good stats for it btw?
Well good twinks like me will destroy you even with the broken weapon levelling lmao

My character is not built specifically for pvp but instead for the game itself so my vitality is at 30 while end is at 28 and strength and dex are at 31 nothing else has been leveled from stock knight class

Without knowing specifics your build is fine. So either invader was too good, or he was cheating. We'll never know for sure.

With endgame armour and high humanity you are impervious to the attacks that beginners could do.

The weapon matchmaking is not very good.

There's absolutely a level cap for invaders, except it goes down.

Way higher cannot invade way lower.
Way lower can invade up to way higher.

The weapon level scaling is purely to separate people with little to no cool things vs people with a lot of cool things.

Too bad the weapon matchmaking still allows +0 Furysword to invade +0 shortsword.

Active humanity is also important since it gives you more defense as well

Fully upgraded armor + humanity advantage + build optimized for their SL specifically. If you get invaded you can generally safely assume the invader has all of these advantages over you if you are just doing a normal playthrough.

If you are coming from DS3 then one major difference you are going to have to get used to is that armor actually plays a huge role. It's not just "if you fill every slot you are good to go." The difference in defense values between various armor types/upgrade levels are huge and have a huge effect, and then there is obviously poise to consider.

In general DS1 probably displays the biggest disparity between optimized and unoptimized builds out of any souls game.

Broadsword is a perfectly fine weapon btw. It's not great in PvP but it should be useable.

You meant discrepancy, right?

no? disparity and discrepancy are basically synonyms in this context

Then... there was stat scaling.

And with stat scaling came build disparity.

I recently got invaded(At SL20) by the DS1 version of LB's High-Level Wizard build. Was named "**** TWINK" and struck me with a crystal catalyst. That did a lot of damage, but I was more worried he could suddenly start casting Dark Bead. He didn't and I wonder if I should feel bad for the backstab. His attacks only did like 40% of my HP every time.
