Questions about Knight Artorias
no kidding that this boss is indeed just a ♥♥♥♥! I dont think ive ever become more frustrated by a boss; I've got all his patterns down but he always seems to just pull something you just dont see coming; the amount of damage i was doing to him and taking its obvious that it would just be a better idea to leave and come back but in the meantime some things i want to know about him

1, is he going to pull some last minute BS? is there a certain phase or attack he keeps hidden until he's down to a quarter health/close to death/one hit away w/e you want to call it? I've noticed he can spam the hell out of his power up.

2, any way to get out of his signature 3 ground pounds in a row? If i miss time a roll or misstime a use of my flask he quickly treats me to this, I cant roll out of it and im forced to eat it. I imagine it has something to do with Poise, what level should it be at to avoid this?

1. No special changes in his patterns what you see is what you get. Buffs more often when he gets lower.

2. If you get caught on the first one your a gonner. Just make sure you are side rolling because forward or back could get you caught out.
Good luck! (With one of the most fun boss fights in the series)

He has the same movesets throughout the entirety of the fight, but the one thing you want to look out for is his buff. He'll start groaning and will be surrounded by purple abyss clouds. If that buff isn't interrupted he will hit harder, and I think it's a permanent effect.

If you just want to pass him, I can assist, otherwise Lepnix already mentioned everything important.

I noticed he will roll backwards twice and then do his buff, but also steps forward and then growls. Should I hit him to interupt his buff after he rolls back twice, or will hitting him when he steps forward and growl interupt it? I definitely dont want to get caught in that AOE attack after his buff.

Hit him when he stops moving and starts buffing. Not sure if upgrade levels affect this but with my +5 lightning spear it takes 3 hits to interrupt it. If he pulls it off though you will get blown backwards, taking damage.

Also i believe his buff only lasts until he and his sword aren't glowing anymore. Also I find its not worth hitting him while hes buffing. Take the time to heal.
*Tip* By staying very far back it will increase the chances of him doing his giant lunge which is easily punished.

After he rolls back twice just keep attacking him till he gets staggered.

he is only hard if you fight him solo, but Manus is way harder :gaper:
you can use the greatshield of artorias you can block all his attacks...

You also aren't truly fighting the boss if it isn't solo.

Yeah I think this is true if he does it in rapid succession.

In this one ive done all of them solo save for the ones where you can summon NPCs (I consider it part of the "story" in a way) its the way i did it back when i had the original version on the PS3 and went through the entire game Fat rolling, in starting knight armor (save for elite helm and silverknight legs), with an awkward Halberd/strengthdex build lmao. however on second playthroughs or new characters i summon other players because i find it fun.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing summoning others, but I feel like they make fights much easier and it kind of defeats the challenge. Plus bosses don't seem to hit you as much when you have a player summoned, you notice this a lot in Ds3.
