2. If you get caught on the first one your a gonner. Just make sure you are side rolling because forward or back could get you caught out.

I noticed he will roll backwards twice and then do his buff, but also steps forward and then growls. Should I hit him to interupt his buff after he rolls back twice, or will hitting him when he steps forward and growl interupt it? I definitely dont want to get caught in that AOE attack after his buff.
*Tip* By staying very far back it will increase the chances of him doing his giant lunge which is easily punished.
After he rolls back twice just keep attacking him till he gets staggered.
you can use the greatshield of artorias you can block all his attacks...
