It's not a remastered thing tho... it's been like this since OG. They added the feature to stay in the current NG in DS2/3
Bittamin Jun 12, 2018 @ 12:22pm
Yeah, that has nothing to do with the remastered edition lol
NG+ is better for co-op anyways

it's not remastered it was like that in PTDE too. thank yourself for not doing a goggle sreach to research how NG+ works in DS1

Idk about that. Some enemies that were strong but reasonable in NG now do RIDICULOUS damage. Like the Skeleton Beasts in the Tomb of the Giants, the big guys in Blighttown who wield Great Clubs and those boulders, etc. Also imagine Artorias in NG+. Then Imagine Artorias in NG+ with that abyss buff he can do. Then remember that Artorias can stack that abyss buff up to THREE times. Oh and the worst of all...the torch hollows when they do that running attack.... NG+ in Dark Souls 1 can be pretty scary. I've only been to NG+ in Dark Souls 2 a handful of times but I never felt too vulnerable in Dark Souls 2 NG+. I haven't played Dark Souls 3 yet so idk what ng+ there is like. Of course people say that NG+ in Dark Souls 3 is basically a waste of time (besides the challenge of harder enemies). I saw Lobosjr's slow run of Dark Souls 3 (it's him going from NG to NG+7, not in one sitting though) but it was a long time ago so I don't remember exactly what it was like for him in ng+ and beyond. He was allowed to summon people all the way up until ng+7 and then he did ng+7 solo.

Even in NG those torch hollows can do like half your health bar (or all of it if you encounter one at a low level). Also they seem to be able to stagger you with that running attack regardless of how much poise you have. It's insane.

Yeah, their stagger is OP... I died twice farming souls in Depths. Once they staggered me, there was nothing I could do but die lol (I don't have much HP and it's NG+)

That sucks. It's later in the game but a great spot for farming souls is in the Painted World of Ariamis. You know those weird melted hollows who wield a big round shield and spears? They're all huddled together in the middle of that courtyard. Once you open the shortcut you can farm them for souls. I think I read that they can give you the most souls per farming session and the bonfire is really closeby. Of course if you have a aoe spell like chaos firestorm or wrath of the gods farming them will be much easier. Since it's ng+ though you would really have to be careful.

"forced" :steamfacepalm:
Saphiros Jun 12, 2018 @ 3:41pm
i checked and indeed, you have no choice to go in NG+ after beat the final boss
idk why i thought i was the choice on the original version to select the option on the fire ( begin the new trek )
my bad, but that suck , cause for exemple, when you have finally the soul of gwen, you need it for the final spell of sunbro, you must inevitably rush again the game :/

Yeah it’s a pretty stupid concept, similar to there being no playing after completing Fallout NV. At least with that it made a tiny bit of sense because of the story. Here there’s really no reason for it other than DS being a dated game. You’d think they’d update it with the remaster but oh well.

this is one of a million changes that they should have updated the game with

Look on the bright side: At least you can get your Estus Flask to +7 and get an extra copy of every spell
Knight Solair Jun 12, 2018 @ 5:21pm
You can coop, and most of ng+ is already a joke if you can kill gwyn save the 4 kings, they were a dps race in newgame but in newgame plus they do become uber powered, so if you had trouble with them before focus on making a high dps weapon before fighting them.

Well I also forgot to mention ng+ expansion bosses, they can be a pain in ng without a proper setup and strategy, so you might need some coop for sure with them in ng+
