Poise for tanking hits / hitstagger prevention mostly. Depends solely on your gear X opponent's gear. If they use ♥♥♥♥♥♥ small arms, flip ring is better unless you have 0 base poise.
The Dark Wood Grain Ring is kind of useless imo.
It gives you 2 more invincibility frames. That's less than 20% ...
Normal rolls have a larger amount of recovery vs grain ring, which means countering etc is easier.
I'm just going to say this.
I've personally never been in a PVP encounter were I lost because my oponent had the ring. The ring used to be overpowered but now it's .... just okay? I just think there're better options, usually. It depends on your build, right?
At all.

If you can't get good poise try flip ring.
It's pretty damn powerful dude.
Yes. Overall cost-performance value of wolf ring is much higher than flip ring.
Depending if you plan to stick with chaos blade, don't trade with zweis for example. Also AAA mentioned above me, but 31 is a very nice amount of poise to have, so if you hit that without having to use wolf, you're pretty much gonna want flip ring.
