Can I join the Darkwraith covenant through bonfire still, after placing the lordvessel with Frampt?

I expect I won't be able to level the covenant anymore, but that's fine. As long as I can keep joining so I can use red eye orb.

You can homeward bone back to the abyss bonfire, then you can join the darkwraiths without having placed the lordvessel. Then both serpents won't be angry with you. But as long as no lordvessel is placed, I can't access the late game areas.

I think it deactivates if Kaathe is angered, similar to how Gravelord servants stop working if Nito is dead.

You can homeward bone back to the abyss bonfire, then you can join the darkwraiths without having placed the lordvessel. Then both serpents won't be angry with you. But as long as no lordvessel is placed, I can't access the late game areas.

I have joined Darkwraiths before and after aquiring the lord vessal and in both instances Frampt would get angry and go away. Not sure wat i might have done diffrent. Maybe answering yes or no to kaathe.

so you literally can't permanently invade end-game areas? (since there's no way to get cracked red eye orbs, and have to be in darkwraith to use the whole red eye orb.) That's really lame.

you can place the lordvessel by talking the kaathe and let him warp you to the kiln.

You answer yes to Kaathe, let Kaathe bring you to the Firelink altar but then DON'T put down the lordvessel. Instead you warp out with a homeward bone. Then talking to Kaathe in the abyss again allows you to join the darkwraith covenant without upsetting frampt.
