Raw Weapons

I'm not sure, and can't find anything on this so I'm asking:
Is a +5 raw weapon equivalent (in level) to a +10 or +15 normal weapon?

Raw weapons are generally not so hot in DS1 compared to say, DS3. So don't bother unless you've checked a stat planner and are sure you will come out ahead, which would be a real surprise in most cases for this game.

That said I'm hazy on the scaling for RAW in comparison, and a quick glance at a chart puts them alongside max upgrades for some reason though. Dunno if that's for aesthetic reasons of scale reasons.

Raw is really just meant for early-game. The upgrade tree ends earlier than any other (after 10 upgrades instead of 15) and the damage trade-off is not worth the scaling reduction for most cases once your skills are ~20+. Once you have chunks and the very large ember, it is no longer even worth it to consider raw weapons

Only time I ever used a raw weapon was when I had an intelligence build. Put no points into strength or dexterity so raw was actually outputting more damage. Usually not the case though due to poor scaling compared to the regular upgrade path.

raw is viable if you're going for an high int/faith build and want to use buff early, allowing you to deal damage similar to a +13/14 weapon early. but since you can go for +15 nearly at the same time it's clearly no the best upgrade path to use unless you want to save yourself some farming.
