Can't see any messages on the ground

Hey guys,

I'm relatively new to Dark Souls, played almost for 40 hours now though and I didn't have any issues up until a couple of hours ago.

I can't see any messages by other players on the ground for quite some time now.
Blood stains, the ghosts of other players are visible though; summoning and other online features work perfectly fine, but messages are nowhere to be seen, which is irritating,
I checked multiple locations over a longer period of time, typical spots where usually there are messages are empty.

It is possible for me to write my own messages though...

Did I accidently deactivate it somehow? Does anyone else have that problem or am I just missing something?

Yes there is a risk because we dont even know what the fu*k it contains... I dont know the person who uploaded this file, or his intentions. I'll pass... Up to you

@sheperdz it was kind of fishy so I uploaded the file to virustotal myself (even though the OP did that) it's clear.

The file is the "DarkSoulsRemastered.exe" file that launches the game in Steamapps/common/darksoulsremastered

It actually ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ works, I see other people's messages!!! Nice

It's literally just the darksoulsremastered.exe from the last patch thats found in your game's folder.

I tried it, it works fine. It's only the games launch executible, so you couldn't be banned for it. Messages appearing, online works fine!!! Try it out, man. i uplaoded to virus total myself and it's clear!!!

literally just the old patches' exe file for launching the game. Not sure why it works, but it does.

You can download older patches from Steam servers if you know how (there are tutorials out there), I did it and the file I got from 1.01 is the exact same as that download, so it's clean.

Can confirm, exe is clean, messages appear and stutter is gone.
Butter smooth again!

And don't worry, online works and you cant get banned for changing the executable, since servers only check save files for impossible values once in awhile (aka no anti-cheat just like in every other souls game)

Book of the Guilty still crashes tho but worked before the update, might also be possible that cheaters are crashing it with stupid amount of numbers and signs or an exploit has been found to crash it...

Nice pinned patch notes btw... QLOC and Bamco are such a joke.

Darksouls twitter account just anounced patch 1.02 on june 4 & 7 for consoles i just asked if PC patch they answered that 1.01.1 came out this week.

Seems like consoles are the priority and Pc players have to wait....

Even simply returning to 1.01 would be a massive improvement at this point, would at least fix stuttering and messages....
