WARNING! Dont use the new Vamos bonfire!
A heads up for everyone: This new bonfire breaks the catacombs area. So dont use the new Vamos bonfire until you have pushed all the buttons for the bridges in the catacombs. Otherwise you will be stuck at the bottom with literally no way to get out.

There's a roundabout route you take by falling through a floor spot that ends up with you back at the top where the second Necromancer appears

If that were the case you could have gotten stuck in the old version too if you tagged the bonfire in tomb of giants without turning the bridges.

There should be a hidden path that brings you back up above the bridges, around where you encountered the second necromancer. It should start just beyond the last turning bridge.

Yep! Go to where the black knight was by the skeletons= wheels, ya'll
Although wouldn't you need to flip the first bridge then?

I *think* there's a switch for the first bridge on the far side (in the room), but don't quote me on that! Also, the first bridge is slightly higher than the path on which you first enter the area - so it might be possible to roll/drop from the "far" side of the bridge, back to that initial path.

No, not that one. There is another spot, just beyond the second turning bridge, you have to break down a crumbling wall, then through the crypt where you find the darkmoon seance ring.

Break the breakable wall near the fog gate that leads onto the 2nd bridge (reachable from below).
This is the area that leads to the Giant skeleton guarding the Darkmoon Seance Ring.
Go through the hole in the wall by the ring to find a path leading up to a Necromancer.
Where the Necromancer is, you can drop down to the fog gate again or climb the ladder to a schorcut leading back to the area wher the very first Necromance was.
You will be attacked by 4 skeletons if you drop down but it is the only way.
Good Luck.

(There's a bonfire at Vamos? How did I not see it?)

Haha. Well, 2 days ago I got the idea to run down there and kill Pinwheel with a fresh char, right after arriving in Lordran.
On the way back I found this beautiful new Vamos bonfire. Now the true challenge started , because sitting at this fire seems to be a trap. Took me 1 hour and many deaths to leave the Catacombs. Was worth it ( if you have nothing better to do ) :steamhappy:

I dont go down to the catacombs until i get the vessel, otherwise that climb back up is a *****.

Well it's not for everyone, but since kindling the pre-O&S bonfire (and even Parish) can be handy...

Use the quick way down to get straight to Pinwheel. Fall Control helps, but isn't neccessary (1 or 2 estus wasted otherwise). Rest only at the first Catacombs bonfire - then bone it back once you have the rite of kindling. Once you've used that way down, it's a breeze - just need to be careful with positioning and rolling on the first two drops.

Just confirmed you can get back up, yeah. Honestly I didn't remember the path. I've only been there once to get the miracle for the achievements.

But if you know what you are doing, there is something to get:
-20 estus ( or 10 if you are a red or white phantom)
-Pick the Great Scythe if you like it.
-Pick the Skulln Lantern and trade it to Snugly.
-Or visit Vamos, if you want an early Smith.

At the same time, the people that know about that stuff can do without them. I usually don't miss the rite of kindling and Andre is the only smith in my heart.
