no this was only a feature in dark souls 3, you have to get a repair box or get it reparied at a blacksmith

They autorepaired in DS2 as well, but in DS1 you have to repair manually. However, item degradation is much slower in DS1 than in the sequels, so you don't have to worry about it often. Unless you use a weapon with a special attack that drains durability.

The soul cost to repair most things at a bonfire with the repair box is pretty low and a good trade off for weapon durability being much higher / slower than later games. If you are using a weapon special ability, you should grab repair powder. They are only 300 each from Elizabeth in Oolacile. Or use the spell Repair (14 INT) at a bonfire. Unfortunately the durability ring (East Woodgrain) does not reduce the durability cost of special attacks.

You can go to the blacksmith and buy a repair box there: then you can manually repair your weapons and armour by the bonfire.
