So buy it for a community which will be dead in a couple of weeks anyways? The ethics behind delisting the old game is screwy. I'm betting they'll also shut down the servers to the old game soon to try to force players to spend another $20 if they want to play. As long as people support scummy practices in the software industry, the software industry will take advantage of it. They could care less about their players. They only want your wallet.
I play what I want to play, ok. Games like Fallout, Borderlands, Overwatch (Stopped because of toxic Playerbase), Bioshock, Skyrim, Dark Souls of course. I make my own decision with my purchases, hell I didn't even know Dark Souls was a popular game before I bought it (Was 12 at the time).
DS3 still has around 10k players on a daily basis, and some claim it is even "Worse" than the original (Not my opinion, but many people have said that). DS2 SOTFS was popular as hell way before DS3 and that game had quite the backlash when it came to the release. From what I'm seeing right now, this game won't die until a new soulslike that is just as good as these games comes out with good PVP. That's just how it is.
I don't play favorites, if anything, I hate Bandai Dickco for delisting the original and I hate Bandai Dickco for always failing to handle PC ports. If I do play favorites, it's From Software, CD Projekt Red, and Monolith Soft (NOT THE LOTR version, the Xenoblade one). I only bought this game for the playerbase, that is all.
For me in my country it was exactly as one litter of medium quality rum, a 3 litter coca-cola and and high quality pack of cigarretes.
(?)
I respect the modder's work fixing the original game, which was unplayable. However, I DON'T like hearing from people that the modder did a better job than the remaster, those people should take off the nostalgia glasses and see that while the modder did an absolutely amazing job modding the original, it was still unoptimized in certain areas, (Hell the modder himself in the .ini admitted that the mod wasn't exactly optimized to the utmost when it came to frame rate.).
Plus while today's patch isn't noteworthy, it should still let you know that the devs ARE working on updating this game, whether good or horribly done. I find it best to be the judge of their work, rather than immediately see remaster and go "Original is better no matter what, ♥♥♥♥ the new devs, and ♥♥♥♥ from since I didn't realize QLOC made this and I gotta put the blame somewhere."
no it required you to own ever single DLC which including the game cost over $80+ at the time
From had no clue how to handle a PC port, they said it right off the bat when we petitioned for its release (Reason is likely because Japan has a very limited market when it comes to the PC). I would doubt they would know how to update said PC port as well. Besides, this is a remaster, which was built SPECIFICALLY to be optimized for next gen consoles, and did it follow it's purpose? It sure as hell did, with the frame rate fix and the majority of MAJOR issues with the game itself (Both PVE and PVP, like Blighttown fps). I doubt this actually took 6 years of dev time, I would bet 1-2 years.
Legendary edition were the only ones able to get the Remastered for free. Anyone who just bought the original and DLC exlusively were pretty much told to ♥♥♥♥ off.
Also using Skyrim as a quote for free game practices is stupid when really need to quote tthe dodgy things they have done or the fact they re release the game full price on every single form of system they can find
Another point on the *free game* you quoteth
