Is it worth getting DARK SOULS™: REMASTERED full price?
Hey! I love Dark Souls. I started with DS3 (Yes I know I should start at the first one but I am stupid okay?) And I played DS2 and I wanted to buy DS1 sometime. Then I saw that DK1 Remastered was going to come out so I decided to way a little longer to get the remastered version of the game. Once the remastered version was released I noticed that you couldn't buy the normal version anymore. That means that I HAVE to buy this version to be able to play DS1. But I have seen the mixed reviews and all the issues this version has while it is 20 dollars more expensive then the classic version. Now the question: Is it worth 40 dollars to play this version for someone that has never played the classic version? Or should I wait for a sale? Because either way I will buy it sometime because I really want to be able to see the entire franchise.

Thanks for reading!

Absolutely. There are a few minor issues that haven't been fixed yet, but $40 for a better version of one of the best games ever made (in my opinion at least) is a steal.

But I have heard alot of people saying that this version is infested with hackers that get your account banned and stuff like that. Does that not make the game completely unplayable?

You can play offline :)

If you haven't played/don't own the original DS1, then remaster is massively worth it and you're going to love it.

Only people I wouldn't recommend the remaster to are DS1 veterans who don't care about multiplayer.

Not even worth the $20 after loyalty discount. Unfortunately there is no shortage of people willing to pay that much for a sloppy patch which only encourages publishers to continue the practice.

If you've never played it and you want to, and its not a big deal to spend 40 bucks, yeah, I recommend. The amount of fun you can have with this game justifies the 40 bucks.

I haven't ran into any hackers so far, but I heard they are definitely a problem for the early areas. But they can't really get you banned as far as I know; they mostly just insta-kill and inflict status effects that are super obnoxious for new characters. The only thing that could get you banned is picking up illegitimate items from cheaters (like a +15 boss weapon or a gesture in item form).

With all that said, I recommend backing up your save data if script kiddies are worrying to you, whether it be whenever you reach a new area or once an hour.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. If I am going to buy this and the devs haven't fixed the hacking problem yet I will do that. Thx for reminding me of that :)

Yup. I have seen a YT video of someone getting invaded and literally died 1 second later losing all of his weapons and armor. Also the reason why I think innocent people get banned cuz of hackers is because of the obnoxious amount of people saying that they got banned because of a hacker.

By the way. Don't know if there is an answer to this but does anyone know if this remastered version is ever going to get a discount?
Metro May 27, 2018 @ 11:43am
Eventually it will. Everything goes on sale eventually. Unfotunately they will never fix the issues with hackers. Same thing is prevalent in DS3. They put zero effort/money into improving the matchmaking anti-cheat systems.
There will be a discount, one day... in the futureeeeeee! Anyway I would recommend to wait for a Sale, I personaly think 40€ is to much for the HD "Hotfix" :P

They have never put a single discount on the Dark Souls 3 DLC's so maybe they also don't do sales on this one? Also since you said they never fix the hacker bs I am just assuming I will have to play offline mode.

Just Get It if you want to play DS1 or go on ebay and buy DS1:PTDE
