[BUG] Aggro range increased
did anyone notice that mobs are aggroing from very afar and chasing forever or its just me ?
i was thinking that something was a little bit OFF with the aggro range but now that i was trying to get to the dragon convenant everything went clear for me, the lizards during the tree section were despawning even before you could see em, i had to restart so many times to grab all those pesky dudes, anyone feels the same ?

The only mob i've seen changed so far for certain is the soul slimes in New Londo. They're much faster and don't use their exploding heads so much as a result. The lizards in the great hollow however are behaving the same as before at least as far as aggro range in concerned. I did notice that they now detect you before your spawning animation ends after a reload, so they can now escape much easier.

really ? try the following, you know the old anor lond, flooded one, go pass the ghosts until the part on the building where you need to use a stair to follow with the merch who cures curses, in my game ALL THE GHOSTS from the scenario followed me there until i needed to kill em because things started to get silly

Hellkite seemed diff, Anor Londo archers seemed a little harder to bait off the ledges, the ghosts in New Londo are absolutely crazy, and the skeletons with Nito feel a little more aggressive seeing as they came after me even with fog ring. Noticing a lot of mobs will run further too. Oh the Taurs before Demon Firesage seems like it aggro'd from a lot further, but it's been so long I'm not 100% sure on that.

there is actually a tread about this on reddit too, during the DLC you can aggro the entire map from miles away

I'm starting to think this isn't a bug but they're doing it in an attempt to prevent people form rushing past everything through the game straight to every boss fight

If that was their goal jokes on them because rushing is still hilariously viable on basically all maps. Only the horde is bigger chasing you.

mobs in ds1 can aggro/chase from much further than compared to ds3. its always been like that

Nah, it's more extreme than it was in PTDE. And DS3 actually has some pretty large ranges, it's just stuff has a tendency to get caught on geometry or "time out" and go back to idle. The ghosts is a pretty extreme example in New Londo, they were always a pain, but now? You'll have the whole horde on you. I definitely remember in PTDE being able to step just out of aggro range so they flew back into the the roof of the boss fog building... now though? You aggro em they're gonna be on your ass even sometimes to the lower portion of New Londo.

This is kinda what I meant when I said it was an attempt to keep people from rushing past everything. I mean sure you can still do it, but it makes it more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying in certain areas.

Oh yeah definitely, you can't really pause or stop running once you start on a number of maps now. And the window to loot certain things is rather painful.

....Oh god, has anyone checked the well in the Painted World? Not sure I want to see if the new aggro extends to bonewheels.

it does, the aggro range is crazy there, the best way i did to circunvent it was to enter using the second entrance and sniping the skellies, but they will GANG you sorry ASS after you start the fight with one

its worse than that, during the scaless fight, those oyters monters followed and entered the boss arena, the aggro is off

Pathing in general seems to be a bit wonky. The ash lake hydra acts too weirdly now for me to fight it first opportunity with as much ease as before, and things like the bonewheel skeletons damn near turn 90 degrees when they want.

In addition to that, many places where a fog wall would normally break aggro no longer do so (i had a hollow swordsman follow me the whole way to the blacksmith staircase)
