How good is the greatsword?

Like 70% of the phantoms i see are always using that weapon. Is it good?

It's way too slow. There are swords that can swing much faster and deal even more damage in the end than that.

It's good for a twinking pvp and pve, scales quite well into the end game, not the best weapon for late game(or meta SL120) pvp. People will easily parry and/or dodge all of the attacks. It's kinda similiar to the Great Club, but great club has a much, MUCH more favorable moveset in pvp with many surprisingly fast strikes on top of the slow ones.

I'm a Tarkus / Black Iron Armor fan, so I love the look of it and use it occasionally, but the moveset sucks and it's way too slow for the damage it puts out. Especially when compared to larger weapons that are also buffable.

Pretty sure the Zweihander is just overall better. Lower requirements and better strong attack.

Typically that happens whenever one of the bigger youtubers drops a gimmick video showcasing some mediocre weapons and using it to great effect to kill bad players.
In case of the greatsword it'd be something like people running into the 2hr2 thrust which deals a lot of damage if it's a counterhit and you wear the leo ring.

However I don't think that this game gets that kinda attention any more.

Zwei is better for a variety of reason, but the R2 is not one of them lol.

The strong attack of the Zwei is better because it's sorta special and for whatever reason does an insane amount of poise damage, allowing it pretty much poise break any enemy (few exceptions) in one strike, including players. Also pancakes them, which is funny.

Though, landing a Ultra Greatsword R2 on a player in PvP ain't easy.

Meh, I'd much rather have my R2 poke with insane range and Leo counter damage. Can easily hit for more than 1k
