Dragon King Greataxe
Is a fully upgraded Dragon King Greataxe a good weapon to take to the end of the game? I have it as plus one right now, needing to two hand it since my strength is only 35.

I'm asking in terms of souls investments....If I can take the greataxe to the end of the game, I just need to get my Str to 50 so i can one hand it, as it doesn't scale with strength. So I can focus my souls on Vit and Stam and maybe even resistance.

Or are better weapons that scale with strength going to come my way eventually?

you probably shouldnt. it's better to use a black knight greataxe/greatsword because...

1: more damage against demons (nice)
2: looks cooler
3: not as hard to upgrade
4: requires less strength so you can invest more stats in other things like stamina and vitality
5: it scales with strength XD

dont take my comment that serious though. im just telling you what i think

I'm kind of a noob, it's my first playthrough. the 570 attack stat for fully upgraded looks impressive but I don't know what is a normal attack power for an end game type weapon. Right now the Dragon King axe is my go-to weapon, but I'm still only in Andor Londo. At plus 2 it's dealing a little under four hundred hp per hit, but i don't know if that is good for that stage in the game or bad.

thanks for responding. but you need some pretty rare materials for upgrading dragon weapons (and alot of souls) while black knight weapons only require twinkling titanite (can be bought) and dont cost as much to upgrade. scaling with weapons pretty much determines how much damage your stats will help. say you have 20 strength and there are 2 weapons. one with B scaling and one with A scaling. the one with A scaling will do more damage

that's the thing about some weapons. they dont have scaling, so some weapons are better left to lower stat characters. it's not really worth it. but you do you! dragon weapons do have a special strong attack ability when 2 handed (takes alot of durability though) and some weapons have scaling (like the moonlight greatsword which scales with intelligence).

im just saying that it's probably better to use a weapon with scaling and use that. the higher the scaling of the weapon the better

Is there a way to know a weapons scaling without looking it up on a wiki?

you might wanna try and look at them ingame.

Some weapons also get better scaling the more you upgrade them. For example the uchigatana goes from b scaling to A scaling the higher you go.

Weapons like the black knight weapons and the dragon weapons can do some massive damage when your stats are low but once you get around stats of 40-50 dex or str a +15 regular weapon is usually better.

In the past getting a +5 lightning weapon was the best way to go because even without scaling it did more damage but they changed that around.

You also have to take the speed of your attacks into account and I don't think you use resins/buffs with dragon weapons.
