Best weapon upgrade path?
First time playing. I have a +10 Claymore, and I'm wondering what's the best elemental upgrade path to take it on -- should I upgrade it to a normal +15, or should I make it a lightning weapon, a fire weapon, etc.? Just in terms of what most bosses are weak to/resistant to.

it depends on the enemy, sometimes it's best to keep it +15 so you can buff it dependent on what enemies are weak to, eg gold resins on the taurus demon

Lightening against stone and metal shield
Fire against Flesh
Raw and pure physical reinforcement against mages
Magic against most of type enemies including divine, enchanted, occult

This.
All the end bosses are weak to different elements
4 kings aren't really weak to anything in particular just resistant to magic
Nito is weak to fire
Seathe is weak to lightning
Bed of Chaos is Bed of Chaos.

DLC bosses are pretty much resistant to everything

the obvious ordinary is most easy and even most efficient:

+14/15 with stats (dex and/or str)

this way, your weapons will grow along with your experience. An "op" eearly weapon won't make the game more easy anyway - you should learn how to survive combat early, reward will be the highest dmg output later

elemental and fancy stuff is cool if you know the game already

If you intend to build a character for PvP infusions are a good option since you dont need high dex or strenght (only to meet weapon requirements) and you can invest in endurance and hp, if you want to have a really high dmg output to beat bosses fast (specially useful if you want to go ng+ and beyond) then it's 40/45 dex/str + int or faith so you can buff with crystal magic weapon or sunlight blade and of course a +15 weapon with excellent scaling in dex or str. For maximum dps it's dex all the way. There are PvP builds with a lot of dex or strenght but infusions are viable since you dont lose that much on dmg and get a lot more hp and can wear heavier armor. The best infusions are chaos with 10 humanity or lightning. Hope this helps :)

if you want just a high damage output you could just run around dark beading everything
