Is it ever worth it to upgrade a scaling stat past 40?
Would it be useful to keep scaling a weapon past 40 levels in NG+++ or above? I am doing fine in NG++ but I am wondering if I will need to do more damage in later NG cycles. I use the Grant. If I shouldn't upgrade faith past 40, what should I upgrade? I would assume END and VIT, which is what I have been doing.

For scaling alone you won't get much use out of it, even if you're going to higher NG+ cycles it's not really worth it for most stats. There are a few exceptions in other areas e.g. dexterity, which I believe gives casting speed bonuses up to the mid-late 40s, and intelligence, which requires investment beyond the soft-cap to meet the casting requirements for certain spells.

so then would equal amounts of endurance and vitality be a good choice, or should I do more of one than the other/only one of them.

It's really up to you, depends on whether you'd rather have more HP or equip load capacity. NG+ tends to be a little lacking in From games in general, with Dark Souls I tend to find it a lot more enjoyable to start a new game and try a different build rather than continuing to inflate stats into the nth NG+ cycle.

I had a sorcerer with 99 int once, you can melt most things, I'd imagine 99 faith would make Grant and all your miracles obnoxiously strong, but you can't do much co-op in the super high soul levels cause there are fewer people

I checked a calculator and 99 faith would make my Grant do 760 total damage, as opposed to 726 with 40 faith, which is only about a 5% increase in 59 levels. I think it would be more efficient to go with vitality, and probably some endurance as well in case I need to fastroll.

in general: be careful with your math - in this game you have flat resistances, so anything stacking on top is true damage (while split dmg stuff might dissapoint you)

that said - you're still right about how VIT and END will give you more value beyond 40

That is weapon and shield that demand 50 STR . . . but past over it, I dont see much use, it seen like it rises +1 damage each level or every 2 levels.

Yeah I have already been using the weapon and have the strength; I was just meaning faith, which has better scaling than strength with the Grand. Should have been more specific.

Vitality to 50
Dex to 45 for max casting speed
Str to 50
Faith to 50 for spells
Int to 50 for spells
