Something I've noticed about DS1 that is infuriating.
So I played Dark Souls 3 for a number of years now and have seen people play DS1 and DS2 over the years and decided to pick it up myself.
Anyways one thing I've noticed is how the rolling mechanic in DS1 is absurdly stupidly designed, where if your character hasn't completely orientated themself they will roll the wrong way despite where you are moving your controller stick.
Hate it.

Other than that great game :3.

So.. in short: game from 2011 has clunky controlls.

There are several aspects/mechanics to rolling, and several ways a roll can occur. If you are using lock on, versus if you are not matters a great deal too. It's weird how you are infuriated about a mechanic I actually enjoy, lol. I guess games are subjective, after all.
rolling really isn't as useful / used as it is in ds3, I find myself rolling back from attacks very rarely when I can usually just block. Midroll in this game has almost no invincibility lul
just use poise 4head

I'm sorry but part about it not being useful or used is just not true.
Rolling is super useful in this game you just need to keep under 25% equip load.

yeah you cant roll spam your way out of sticky situations and become invincible like in ds3

but to do that you either have to invest a lot into endurance + Havel's ring or wear light armor. The former makes you lack vigor and the latter makes you lack defense.

But you forgot the best ring - FaP ring (gives you both endurance and vigor)
You can wield most weapons with normal shield with even less than 20 end. Only "problem" is you won't have much of an armor but you won't need it when you dodge ;)

I wear FaP + Havel on my character (giantdad chad) and in ng+ pretty much half of the enemies take away half my HP in a single hit, unless you're an expert at literally nohitting this game, taking off armor is a bad idea.
