How do you actually play this?

So I've played some nonogram puzzles before, like Pokemon Picross on the 3DS, Hungry Cat Picross for mobile, etc. But this one seems different. The problem I'm having is, do the numbers on the top/side have to be done in order? For example, if one row is listed as having 3 2, does the piece of 3 HAVE to go into the row, left to right, before the 2 does?? i.e. in a 10x10,

X X 1 1 1 X X X 1 1 or some variation of that, but never
X X 1 1 X X X 1 1 1 since 3 is before the 2 in the puzzle hint?

Pictopix works like Pokemon Picross (and Picross e series). The numbers have to be done in order. Here are a few examples:

- 3 1 2 > X 1 1 1 X 1 X 1 1 X
- 2 4 1 > 1 1 X X 1 1 1 1 X 1

Thank you. I assumed this was the case, but some puzzles felt like it wasn't like this, so I was unsure. Sorry for being an idiot, lol. I like the game a lot. :)
