Depends what you mean by early game. If you mean third department early HEs, Der Freischutz.

If sooner than that, Today's Shy Look. Everyone who was a team leader and second in command in a department got the EGO gift while training their justice.

Getting an ALEPH in the training room is a godsend. That said, if we're going no higher than HE for the sake of this question, I'd say either Laetitia for her guns or Scarecrow. I know the latter gets a lot of crap, but since he doesn't come with the Woodsman's instakill, it makes him that much easier to handle in a pinch. Plus, I've seen agents go from II to IV prudence in one session, so if you haven't surpressed HOD yet, ye's a great choice. In addition, since it's early game and you haven't reset yet, having 3 pitchforks will go along way as far as agent offense goes. Plus, shoutout to Child of the Galaxy for having the ability to train any stat - it's like Shy Look, but way less annoying.

Also, Mirror of Adjustment. One of the best tools in the game, enough said.

I second Shy Look. I got it super early, and for awhile it was the only black damage dealing weapon I had! Also great training once you figure out the trick to it.

Laetitia and Der Freischütz are always good choices. Singing Machine and Funeral of the Butterflies are similarly good to have in the building early-on, when your employees are not all high-level yet and can work with these particular abnormalities without any consequences. All-Around Helper is one of the better red-damage oriented abnormalities too, at HE clearance.

Really, any abnormality that yields a decent EGO/gift is a good one to have in your facility.
