I'm mad
I'm gonna start by saying there are spoilers ahead. If you don't know what a core suppression is, read at your own discretion.

This is mainly just me venting, but HOLY MOLY did I just get the short end of the stick.

Lemme preface this by saying this is my third time trying the Tiphereth meltdown, and all the attempts I've made lasted about an hour. It was going pretty well, had to suppress Melting Love, Meat Lantern, and Little Red, taking care of the ordeals pretty well, and overall doing good.

Then along comes Violet Midnight.

I had already tried to deal with this ordeal in a previous run, but while taking out the white shrine, a single tentacle slap made almost all my employees go mad. This time I got decent RNG with where the shrines spawned, and began taking them out. I hired Red to take out the white one, because I was NOT risking another total wipe.

Everything was going good until one of the limbs killed one too many people. Both Army in Black and Mountain of Bodies got out, Big Bird and Heroic Monk looked ready to get out at any moment, and limbs were flailing everywhere. Absolute chaos. I was somehow able to keep Mountain from growing, but Army decided to release Meat Lantern and Big Bad Wolf.

Now I was chasing Wolf around, trying to kite him away from his moon areas, but he runs away and fights Red, then gets murked. SOMEHOW he immediately escapes again, and runs around making everything worse until he locks onto the pale shrine. Yipee.

So I re-hire Red on the white shrine, Wolf is taking care of the pale shrine, and I have a strike team working towards the other two, and a second team camping out Wolf. Everything is back under control. Things go according to plan, and finally Violet Midnight gets taken care of. I'm ecstatic. I hurry up and trigger the last meltdown and finish the core suppression with a whopping 2 casualties. I skip to next day and guess what happens next.

The. Game. CRASHES.

Over an hour of stress and anxiety, all for nothing. No Tiphereth core suppressed. No midnight completed. Nothing ever happened.

TLDR: This game can and will rip your progress away from you.

Word of advice:
If you're playing for more than an hour on any given day, there's a solid chance that the game has trouble saving it all at once and will stop responding. What do you do? Well, it's not a good solution and sorta makes you feel like you're back in the early 2000s, but you just have to wait for it to respond again. DON'T click anything. Don't even touch your mouse. You may have to wait half an hour or more. I know I did once. It'll eventually respond again and continue to the next day. It'll just take ages. This game has some serious memory issues at times, and I know most games or programs that "stop responding" should probably just be quit out of, but not this one. Not if you want to save your progress, anyways.

EDIT: note this doesn't happen every time, and I'm just ASSUMING you meant it stopped responding when you said "crash" rather than just instantly closing itself, as the former is often the case. Also, this issue always happens during the loading screen to the next day.

I had a case very similar to yours happen to me, and I was so ticked off that I absolutely refused to lose that much progress and sat there and waited for around 40 minutes before I got to breath the biggest sigh of relief as it fixed itself, lol.

Thanks for listening to me rant, but It's all good. I get what you're saying about having to wait, I just don't have that kind of patience. I went back in later and cleared green midnight, easy.

As for crashing, I have had the game crash once before. I just clicked on 1.76 MHz and it crashed to desktop. Dunno

I think most people wouldn't want to bother waiting that long, I just figured I'd mention it in case you REALLY don't want to do something over (such as days past 45, for example)

And uh...That's the first I've heard of any abnormality just instantly closing the game (other than the button, which is intended), let alone an early-game one like MHz. Weird.
