If you're playing for more than an hour on any given day, there's a solid chance that the game has trouble saving it all at once and will stop responding. What do you do? Well, it's not a good solution and sorta makes you feel like you're back in the early 2000s, but you just have to wait for it to respond again. DON'T click anything. Don't even touch your mouse. You may have to wait half an hour or more. I know I did once. It'll eventually respond again and continue to the next day. It'll just take ages. This game has some serious memory issues at times, and I know most games or programs that "stop responding" should probably just be quit out of, but not this one. Not if you want to save your progress, anyways.
EDIT: note this doesn't happen every time, and I'm just ASSUMING you meant it stopped responding when you said "crash" rather than just instantly closing itself, as the former is often the case. Also, this issue always happens during the loading screen to the next day.
I had a case very similar to yours happen to me, and I was so ticked off that I absolutely refused to lose that much progress and sat there and waited for around 40 minutes before I got to breath the biggest sigh of relief as it fixed itself, lol.
As for crashing, I have had the game crash once before. I just clicked on 1.76 MHz and it crashed to desktop. Dunno
And uh...That's the first I've heard of any abnormality just instantly closing the game (other than the button, which is intended), let alone an early-game one like MHz. Weird.
