How Do Promotions Work?
Hey everyone! I've been stuck on a mission for the training team that wants me to promote two employees. I've been focusing a lot on the training team since I got this mission and haven't got any promotions, I was stumped on what to do. Then, in the middle of the night last night (1:00am to be exact) I woke up and couldn't stop thinking about what to do. Finally I came up with a solution that finally let me go back to sleep a few hours later.

Today ingame (day 16) I hired two new employees in the training department and had them do pretty much all of the work that day (except when there was a meltdown and a more experienced employee needed to deal with a more dangerous abnormality) since I figured since they are low leveled it shouldn't take as much experience to level them up.

No dice . I've decided to keep replaying day 16 till I finish this mission, just so I don't need to worry about it on more dangerous days. I tried looking up advice on this mission, and the discussions on this issue date back to 2017 (which may be out of date at this point, I don't know how much as changed) just say to use employees from the training department which I have been doing.

Does anyone have any advice on this?

Make sure you give them different types of work. If they simply do instinct work and nothing else, even if their red stat got maxed, they will not get promoted.

Make sure to do Instinct, Insight, Repression and attachment. For example.

Let's say your RED stat is III, White stat is III and black/pale stat is III, your employee will be level 3.

If your RED stat is IIII and White stat is II your employee will not get promoted to IIII.

Doing Instinct raises RED (HP), Doing insight increases WHITE (SP), attachment increases work success rate and I think Repression increases attack and movement speed.

If they get promoted before the day starts, if you used to points to promote them, the promotion will not count towards the mission.

Okay, thank you. I was trying to give them a variety of work but I'll be more careful on that.

make sure they do a lot of work for each colour/work. Also, I think the longer they stay in training team, the faster they level up/get promoted, I think.

It does take a little while.

Sigh, its all about Stat totals of the base stats
Lv 2 employees have a total of 6 (Ex. 2 Fortitude + 1 Prudence + 2 Temperance + 1 Justice)
Lv 3 employees have a total of 9 (Ex. 3 Fortitude + 3 Prudence + 2 Temperance + 1 Justice)
Lv 4 employees have a total of 12 (Ex. 4 Fortitude + 4 Prudence + 3 Temperance + 1 Justice)
Lv 5 employees have a total of 16 (Ex. 5 Fortitude + 5 Prudence + 5 Temperance + 1 Justice)

In order to promote an employee for Hods mission, you must have 2 employees become a higher level.

Fastest way to do this is to have 2 level 1 employees (with at least 1 lob spent to level up said stat you are going to train) work on an abnormalities that specialize in either Fortitude or Prudence stats. If you want to level up them in Fortitude, you are going to need to find a Red attacking Instinct loving abnormality that is relatively safe to work on (such as Punishing Bird, Forsaken Murderer, etc). And if you want to level up Prudence you can safely work on One Sin.

I do recommend to just spam the works even more then normal, as EXP usual is very low with TETHs and ZAYINs due to low damage, low risk factor, and low PE-box output (which is the most important).
If I were to manually increase their temperance, prudence, and justice before the day started and had them just focus on instinct work during the work day would that count as a promotion? Since the three stats would be increased to 2 before hand then instinct would increase to 2 during the work day? Sorry if I'm not getting it, I'm not the best with stat management though I am having a blast playing.

Sadly it must be during the day, can't just promote 2 employees in the Deployment phase and expect an easy win. However if you worked even more, you could have promoted them to level 3

You can use a particular mod to show how much XP an agent has received during work hours, and use that to guide their activities. Note this mod also sheds light on work odds and enemy HP.

I don't use this mod due to something called a Roundoff error (you can look up what it is) but essentially some of the numbers regarding the work success rate are wrong.

Is there a more accurate alternative to this mod?

I’d like to know so too! Playing blind is fine and all, but something like that sounds handy.

Going by my playthrough while using the posted mod, it is accurate enough as-is to give a decent idea of how things would go. Anyhow, you might be interested in trying the gameplay component of my modpack. Aside from work info, it also has mods that allows hot-keying groups of agents and to automate work.

Steam won't allow viewing of Google documents, so you will have to download the README to get details and the link to the modpack itself.

I finally was able to finish that quest, it took a bit of trial and error but now it's done and I got a nice upgrade. Thank you for the advice everyone, and I'll take a look at that read me as well.
