Returning to memory saves everything, including deaths and ego loss, while also reverting to a checkpoint. For example, you could use it to get EGO from a certain abnormality you don't want to keep before resetting, so that you could keep the gear and not lose employee progress either.
Basically all you misunderstood here is that resetting to memory does not revert to that day. It saves your current progress, then backtracks you.
God this answer looks confusing.
The 'Reset Day' button will not save most global progress and reset you to a point before you clicked the begin management day and after you assigned equipment, employees and stuff in the deployment phase.
The 'Memory Repository' will backtrack the player to the start of a Memory Imprint day (the 1st day of the week such as day 1, 6, 11, 16, etc) saving all global progress the player has done on the day the Memory Repository was preformed, and revert things to the start of the Memory Imprint day.
Pressing DTM with no information on it and crashing the game will save all global progress and also preform the same thing as a day reset minus the information not saving save.
Now what is Global Progress (data), it is progress that is retained from resetting to day 1, that being EGO equipment, story progress, abnormality information, etc. Your employees and their stats are not global data, they are local data
You can delete all your currently equipped EGO by spam clicking on "Don't click me" abnormality but that's because after don't click me kills all your employees,it proceeds to save the game (making all the EGOs lost permanent) and then "crashes" the game.
The other thing that permanently deletes EGOs I've encountered is the "Old Faith and Promise" but that only deletes a single weapon on the guy using it, when it fails it's little weapon upgrade.
