Are flat/VR versions cross-compatible for mods on Fusion's Workshop?

I got Serious Sam Fusion to play the Serious Duke mod in VR but I'm just now realizing you need to have Fusion and SS3 to get it running. If I buy SS3 VR (when it goes on sale) will I be able to play Serious Duke in VR without any additional effort or does it only work with the flat version?
