If I enable it, I want to make sure it's clear that using the cheat menu may not always lead to entirely stable or fun results, and isn't intended as part of the normal gameplay experience. I'll give it some thought and check back tomorrow if anyone else have comments on this. Then I may enable it on the beta branch to see how that pans out.
An alternative is to edit the save game file, but it's a custom binary file format which contains a block of zipped data after a header, so I don't particularly advise that as a method.
I'm sure many who play with cheat or debug modes are aware that it may cause instability.
It also could be useful later down the line for testing things out in the game (i.e. if something needs to be nerfed or boosted)
Thank you for considering letting us have these things! thanks for the work on the game too!
Me neither - and I want to make sure, if I end up enabling it, that the temptation is minimized for those who don't really want to ruin the experience of exploration, but have trouble dealing with the inherent temptation of cheats.
Putting it in the gameplay settings (ie not game setup, but the one where audio and UI scaling is configured) could very well be enough to accomplish this. I just wanted to think out loud on this one.
