(This will presume you have not gotten sense mana nodes already)
First open up the 'Magic' Menu.
Click "Projects"
Click "Research Spellcraft"
Select Research "Sense Mana Nodes"
Click on "Begin" to start researching.
After 5 turns, your research for "Sense Mana Nodes" should be complete.
Open up the "Magic" Menu.
Click "Projects"
Click "Research Spellcraft"
Select Research "Bind Mana Nodes"
Click on "Begin" to start researching.
After 6 turns, your research for "Bind Mana Nodes" should be complete.
Once "Bind Mana Nodes" research is complete, move an army under your control onto a node on the map. Generally speaking, you will want to select a small one. Smaller nodes cost less mana to bind, and larger nodes cost more mana to bind. Smaller ones will give less per turn and larger ones will give more per turn.
With your army on top of a node, you will be able to bind it now.
Select the hex with the node that your army is on top of.
At the bottom left menu (Where you normally have the building menu), select "Bind"
If you do not have enough, than you will just have to wait.
If you do have enough, it will open a "Yes/No" menu. Hit "Yes".
Congrats, you got your first mana node.
Enemies will remove your control of it if they capture it.
Be sure to take as many nodes as possible, and leave some defences on them (Personally I prefer to leave normal mortal troops, or gnolls due to their lack of upkeep).
Hope this helps!
I'll take a look right now, and see if I need to get anything into the fix coming later today.
