Get the GOG version instead.
It's the same price (without the discount currently shown on Steam) and it works on the latest systems. In fact, if you wanted to, you could bundle in Caesar III and Zeus + Poseidon (Acropolis) for another $10. You can find it at GOG.com

and you know that you pay only less then 18$ for all 22 titels on steam? its much cheaper then on GOG for only 3 games.

Looks like you're right. I did not see there was a Sierra bundle going on on here. One of my points still stands, though. Steam version of Pharaoh + Cleopatra is supported up to Windows 7 while GOG supports up to Windows 10. For many people with Windows 10, they could probably make it work anyways; but it's not guaranteed. Looks like some games in the bundle are supported up to Windows 10, though.

There is no difference in GOG and this version in terms of compatibility. Just that GOG wrote for support for 8 and 10, doesn't mean that they are compatible with that. Last game patch was years ago.

Both versions have problems on windows 8 and 10, I have GOG versions of Sierra games and I have to play them in XP compatibility, because they crash constantly on my system.

Look at support pages, people have trouble running them too. In other words, you point is not valid.

GOG Troll on Steam!
this game works flawless on win10 and there is also a thread with a patch for different resolution.

@Mindaz Game patch was years ago, yes. That doesn't mean GOG did nothing to make it backwards compatible. Sorry to hear you have to run it in XP compatibility. It runs perfectly on my Windows 10.

So your saying GOG was given the source code to monkey with and make it more compatible than the Steam version?

I took the liberty of making a topic on the GOG forums asking how they make old games compatible. Thread is https://www.gog.com/forum/general/how_does_gog_make_these_games_backwards_compatible

This. I haven't noticed any difference between the Steam or GOG versions on Windows 10 but my old Pharaoh CD used to crash between missions sometimes!

GoG are known to sometimes apply unofficial community-made compatibility patches that are freely available on the web. The kind of stuff you would expect to find in the forums section or in the guides on Steam right off the bat. Reverse engineering that needs to be done for most old Windows titles to properly "fix" them is extremely expensive, and GoG does not have the resources to do it themselves for all of their games. (heck, I bet even Valve couldn't do it even if the wanted)

There are few games that have an actually different, "better", version on GoG, e.g. Earth 2140, but in most of such cases it's due to different publishers and not GoG itself.
Also, there are cases when it happened the other way, too. For instance until quite recently the Russian version of Etherlords on GoG was a joke, as it was a very incompetent translation from English, which in turn was a translation from... Russian. In the meantime, the Steam version had the original script and an active community manager on the forum.

In short, it all depends on the game. Thanks to the refund policy that these both marketplaces provide nowadays, you might as well just go for the lowest price and refund+purchase from the other seller if you run into any problems getting the game to work, as long as you are not concerned about DRM or bonus material that GoG sometimes provides.
