Were you playing around with the group file by chance? I've accidentally done this to myself where I've renamed Fury.grp to Fury.zip to grab a file out of the group file, but then I forgot to rename the group file back to Fury.grp before launching the game. When I then go to launch the game it does the same thing that you're describing here.
If this is not the cause, what does the Fury.log file say?
i was not. i tried launching it right after it finished downloading.
when i look at these files i noticed that the file you are referring to is titled "fury.grpinfo" should i name it "fury.grp" and take out the word info?
log says this:
Ion Fury r8018

shows some file named "/3dr_480.png" does not exist. i wonder if that is the issue that wont let the game launch.
There's a small chance the debug executable I've made gives more info in the log[s]. Get it from here[forums.duke4.net]. You need eduke32-if.debug.exe and ebacktrace1-64.dll from the archive. Put them to where your fury.exe is and start eduke32-if.debug.exe from there.
windowed mode in that resolution doesnt work so i will try the method you outlined.
my game has never launched since purchase even before rummaging through the files.
If the debug doesn't provide any significant tips, I'd probably try a simple clean install. To do this, delete the following two folders on your system:
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\steam\steamapps\common\Ion Maiden\
%appdata%\Ion Fury\
After removing these folders you'll receive an error message the next time that you try to launch the game from Steam stating that the files can't be found. Ignore this error message and close it. Launch the game a second time and it will re-download all of the game files.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that worked!!! thanks, man!
- Do you have a game controller attached?
- Do you have a non-English keyboard layout?
Yes, please do so.
