Ion Fury doesn't start anymore (Linux)
Hi, I've been playing and loving this game for the past week.
However since today it has stopped working, it simply doesn't start and no errors are shown.
I saw there was an update and I suspect it might be related.
I'm running Debian 10.

How can I provide more information to troubleshoot the problem? I looked at the logs and nothing seems relevant. Here they are: https://pastebin.com/TDkiyaAv

Is there a way to go back to previous version?

Thanks

I managed to install the old version of the game and made it work fine.
In the process I noticed an error was print when running with the new executable:

Ion Fury r(?) Built Sep 17 2019 05:36:40, GCC 5.4.1, 64-bit Using /home/xuan/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steamapps/content/app_562860/depot_562863/ for game data Using /home/xuan/.config/fury/ for game data ./fury.bin[0x4c28dd] /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6(+0x37840)[0x7ff48939b840] hash_find(): table not initialized! hash_find(): table not initialized!

Apparently fury.bin is no longer compatible with my libc version.

Same here, not working
Getting the same hash_find(): table not initialized! error on Manjaro KDE.
The game works with proton so as a workaround you can go to the game properties in steam and enable the Proton 4.11 compatibility layer. This will automatically replace the game with the Windows version and you will be able to play it until they release 1.03 with a working Linux build.

I wonder if it works on any disto at all, it might just be an error in eduke3d.

In my case I restored the previous version by following this guide.

Went to the console and ran:

download_depot 562860 562863 1879379620098502564

That downloaded the game executable which I copied over the new one.
However I couldn't make Steam download the .grp file (so I had to resort to a "backup").

EDIT: To download the content files:

Arch Linux here. I'm actually quite ticked off about this. I paid money on the promise of Linux support, and it worked just fine earlier. Did they even put forth any attempt to test this disaster of an update?
Just talked to the developers on Discord who got it running on Ubuntu and where surpriced by this. So they did test it, but only on limited distro's since its those distro's they support. They are aware of it now so i personally expect this to get resolved in a future update.

Interesting. Ion Fury doesn't launch on my Pop OS laptop, which is based on Ubuntu. It has the same exact error as my Arch Linux desktop:
hash_find(): table not initialized!
This error appears on both Runtime and Native; there's somesort of issue with the Linux build.

Experiencing this exact same behavior on Ubuntu 19.04.

In case this has to do with glibc,
ldd --version
says 2.29

I'm sorry guys, hopefully one of the engine folks will wake up soon and be able to fix the build for Linux here.

I've actually run exclusively Ubuntu (currently on 18.04) for the last decade or so, meaning I developed the game's scripting on it. So, I was surprised to hear this happen.

Ubuntu 19.04. Also does not starts.

Real developers aim for 100%. Is voidpoint a real developer?

Same here on gentoo, broken with similar output
spectre_be Sep 19, 2019 @ 12:09pm
Renaming or removing libvoidwrap_steam.so from the gamefiles dir fixes it as mentioned in another thread

I'm reporting that the new version 1.02a fixed the problem. Thanks for the quick fix!

p.s. might be paranoid but I feel there's some difference in mouse control, like a slight acceleration. I can live with it though.
