jumping higher without boots

im following some secret videos and the player always manages to jump easily into spots i dont know what im doing wrong i cant jump that high its frustrating. there was another level where i had to get up via wind fans but could barely make that as well. do u have to look up when jumping or something like that to get higher??

Wind fans should be enough to push you where you need to be with ease. maybe try staying more time in the area of the fan? if you exit its area of influence you will stop being pushed.

In the rare case this might be a bug, could you post a video of the problem or describe which specific area this happens?

im following a youtuber named nokturna mortis. E3M1 washington there is a secret where you activate a power source to start a fan then fly up into windows. on the video he looks down then just floats into it. i can never get the height. the other secret is on same map to get outside area where you go through fan tunnels. he does this jump so easy from the ground and straight in. i had to get a chair. watch his video at 28secs where he does this jump into fan. its impossible i tried over and over. dont worry about the first secret i mentioned i firgured it out i just had to stay on the fan and wait till it boosted me to the correct height instead of rushing and spamming jump. my bad

You can get to many places in this game via crouch jumping.
Just crouch in the middle of the jump and the collision box of your legs disappears.

There are 2 easy ways to do it, you really almost never need the jump boots.

Just jump then hold crouch, or , push a nearby item like a broom or potted plant and stand on that.

im having trouble with the 3 fans in a level that i think is bugged how do i upload the screenshots?

in both photos im directly on the fan at either end. top photo has a higher end ledg. the bottom photo has a lower ledge which is fine i can get over to the switch. What i dont understand is if all 3 fans have the same power and boost u only so high then why are the ledges at different heights? I have managed to get up the higher side but i don't know how i did it

That's the spot with the 3 fans in a row on the floor isn't it Jacobz? This is a bit of a mind puzzle, and there are a few ways to achieve this. I think that one way involves placing a barrel near the center of each fan so that you can platform jump across them (I've seen video of this technique although I haven't tried it myself). Another method is to use the fans to lift barrels up and then push them just out of the fan's area of influence along the edge of the wall so that they are stacked on top of each other until you have enough that you can easily jump up to the ledge when you stand on top of the pile.

i've got up there without moving any barrels so it is possible but how easy it is to perform is another thing. I gave up and used noclip cheat.

interesting i must of glitch jumped to make it then
