I hope to see more sprite-character FPS from many different companies.I actually hope both are wildly successful.

The IM guys though are highly experience at Build and FPS design, which nothing against younger people, but Project Warlock is put together by a very talented 19 year old.

I've gotten to play IM, and theres a rich history behind it. PW is more of a wild card.

The only thing that concerns me about PW is in the promotional material, they seem to be going heavy on quantity of stuff instead of focusing quality to the exclusion of quanity, or at least that's just how I preceive it.

Project Warlock uses Unity, so it's kind of like "yeah whatever", any cool tricks are just expected of the engine, Ion Maiden uses (albiet an highly updated version of) BUILD technology, so anything cool they do in it is from clever manipulation of old technology. Not to mention the art/theme/music/level design is way cooler in IM, sure IM may hit the "OMGZZ SO RETRO" thing annoyingly sometimes like the floppy disk stuff, but at least they didn't go full-on making their sprites 8-bit like PW did. just my $0.02.

Yeah the chunky pixel art for PW was a design decision, IM just refines an existing work while PW has to build everything from ground up.
At the end of the day we get two cool games, though I didn't have a chance to play PW, only IM.

They actually don't have to build anything from the ground up, it's Unity. The scourge that turned Steam into a toxic wasteland.

Yeah, sounds, textures, art direction, weapon designs and maps magically come from unity :)

A lot of the Unity games...it actually does, from the asset store. PW doesn't seem like that, but it kinda shows too ;(

The reason I know PW is not a copy paste is because I watched some dev videos where the createor said he had to rework stuff as he was learning how to do better pixel art... I wish I knew how to do that...I could make my own games.

It doesn't look like PW will be as good as IM but I still wish it well. With 3DR's track record we'll likely be playing it before IM anyway :squirtheh::tbptongue:

You know what, I would rather them take their time, polish the game so that we can enjoy a bug free experience.

IM is like an old band that hasn't been heard of in over a decade released a new reecord out of nowhere and it's greeat.

PW is like a new band released a record full of cover songs and it's great.

Buy both, suppoort the 90s fps revival.

Project Warlock looks really cool. Someone knows if it will be available on steam?

Playing Project Warlock now can definitely say it has much better weapons and upgrade system with meaningful choices. RPG like perk and stat sys, you can do different builds etc.

Personally, I don't see the need to compare these two games.
Yes, they both use sprites... but, even then, the sprite work in both games is drastically different.

The style, theme and gameplay itself is different.
It's like comparing Hexen to Wolf3D... they are that different.
