It is yes, but only a little. I'm changing the points that didn't make sense to me and everyone. Even the characters are being re-worked. You can test out the beta for the remake in your steam properties. Go to the beta tab and type "justignorethem". The full remake is out (which isn't much besides a fixed story, a few now sprites and music) to test. Also, please let me know what you think of the new version :)

None taken, The story needed fixing, it was very rushed especially the ending. But I hope to not only make more sense of it but also more entertaining too. Let me know your thoughts once you've completed the beta :)

So does the full remake have more changes than the beta (particularly pertaining to the plot)?

Yes, but only the story. The plot is still the same. Basically, it just needed a tidy up.

Okay, played both routes The remake definitely does a great job of patching up all the issues that bothered me in the original, most notably how the robots could appear out of thin air and the protagonists being let go without any problems after landing the plane (it is still hard to believe they are free to go the very same day, but at least the game addresses it with the cctv footage).

Unfortunately, two new plotholes have now been created in the last part of the game: the lies about Brea's name and Mark having killed his father are brought up, but those lies are no longer in the game. Brea never introduces herself as Paris nor does Mark claim to have killed his father.

Other than that it's all good, though I must say I personally prefer the old character mugshots. They may have been amateurish compared to the new ones, but they were much more expressive and the new mouthless, tiny-eyed ones, are, I think, too cute for the themes of the game.

Oh, one more thing I somehow forgot. There seems to be some problem with the phone call at the motel.
In the playthrough in which I had Mark tell Mary about his past, I saw her hanged during the car ride, but then at the motel, on the phone, I was told she was fine and had just left after finishing her shift.
Conversely, in the playthrough in which I didn't tell her anything, I was shown nothing during the car ride, but at the motel, on the phone, I was told she hanged herself.

I seem to remember a similar mix-up occurring at least once already before I got the remake, so it may be a pre-existing problem.

Thanks for the feedback @archduke, I could only work with what I had for the remake.

When I fist made JIT, it was practically a on-the-fly game. I wrote the story whilst developing it, which probably wasn't the best idea at the time. The remake is basically a re-telling of the story because it didn't make sense, even to me. So I tried my best with what I could without having to change game assets and levels and what not.

Plus, I also wanted to re-write the story to fit in the same universe as some of my other games. If you play 'My Big Sister' you will see some references between the two games ;)

But I am glad you still enjoyed both experiences because it is still one of my favourite stories I've written (even if it doesn't make sense)

:)

Yeah, I get it, it was an overhaul to address plotholes, not a complete reimagining.

Interesting to hear. I've bought your later game bundled with this one, but haven't had time to play it yet. I'll be looking forward to that then.
I was actually wondering if Brea's ghost anedocte was a hook to something, but my guess had been that it would be the eventual "Brea's Story".

I'm not gonna lie, on my first playthrough I was actually really bothered by those two issues (unexplained phasing through floor robots and airport security slacking off), so I am very happy to see them addressed in the remake.

If that's the case (if it's still one of your favorites), I think that's all the more reason to take a few moments to edit those dialogues further to remove the new plotholes. All you'd have to do is change the conversations at Dan's place so that Brea never claims Mark told her he killed his own father and so that Mark doesn't suddenly go "wait, your name's not Paris?"
And if I may be so bold as to suggest this: I'd also have Mark state that they were detained for 24 hours when he narrates the events between landing and getting on the train.

The Mary glitch is, of course, a different story. Some flags must have gotten mixed up for the consequences of telling her to be shown when you did not tell and the other way around (fortunately it does not seem to affect the point system. Or at least, I can confirm the 8 Bits Melons achievement is still obtained by telling Mary about Mark's past).
It might take a bit more effort to fix this one.

If I ever get the time, I'll fix those story issues. Been pretty busy with my next two games, as well as the one I'm about to release next month. But I have always wanted to remake JIT from the ground up, with new artwork, music, dialogue and locations to explore. I may do it one day.

That is all very good to hear. Good luck with the new games (and, potentially, this eventual full remake)!
