depends on what weapon do you plan to use. If 2H than fighter or barbarian are obv choices. There are some exotic options like adding martial wizard etc. Either way fighter or barbarian should work good, fighter probably better, but barbarians blow is quite strong. Though paladin provide very little in terms of melee dps, most of his few dps abilities are magic and for multi-class are even less. If you want weapon dps you'd be better off with barb+fighter, really fun and powerfull combo with leaps, cleaves, crazy hit, all that you expect from brute characters. And fighter/barb empower themselves greatly, while paladin oriented on supporting other party members.

If i were set on going EXACTLY paladin, i'd multiclass him with priest/wizard to give myself an edge with martial buffs, minor avatars/safeguards/llengrath martial power, summoned weapons etc.

I've done a paladin, barb run and its prity damn good with 2h. You have a tone of utility and the barb side of things gives u some nice big hits. Paladin , warrior is good but i find it kinda boring in comparison.

A great Paladin class would be, Bleak Walker Paladin, with either Berath (Neutral) Priest. Or Skaen (Evil) Priest. Or the ice dude works for evil too if you got the dlc. Dark Templar Class.

Bleakwalker + priest of Wael is amazing! You're really tank and with 2 weapons you can buzzsaw most enemies. Tons of illusion spells don't hurt either.

sounds fun never tried priest out heard they were weak

Is 2H better than dual wield for DPS?

Lol what? Priest is probably the best class in the game.

My paladin/ priest rocked. I went for the tradtional dnd paladin and it really worked, I also had the npc paladin as a crusader which was also awesome, I would go as far to say multiclassing the paladin is the best way to go especialy as a player charater becuse you really need some utility.

The recent patch brought dual wield dps down a bit but it's probably still better than 2H by far.

Troll, I hope. Druid can do the same healing, gets summons and direct damage spells plus tons of equipment to increase power levels of spells (water, wind, frost) +2. Chanter and Paladin can do resurrections (you don't need any, really) and are better classes in total.
PoE Priests suffer from total lack of pre-combat buffs which is D&D cleric's domain. They are therfore utterly meaningless.
