Wow really, the character creator is just ...
Hello,

After waiting for ages to finally play this game with all the content I am 5 minutes in and already getting flared off.

I had a death godlike in PoE I as my main and was looking forward to continue the story with him. But now he has a new skin color for no reason at all.

In PoE I i chose the death godlike with the red head and horns, like you know, the portrait displayed him. The portrait is still there in PoE II but you now have to use the ugly purple tint without any way to change it. I mean why? Why can he not be red? What was so super hard about to just add this option, so I could create the same damn character I had in part 1?

I can not even mod the game now due to the new patch. Great.

It really is the equivalent of you playing a black main character in the first game, but now you are forced to play it as a white dude because they did not add the skin color. Unacceptable (roleplay wise)

man...

they kinda completely changed all the looks of everything between games

granted i dont think ur complaints arent valid, i also wish they hadnt ditched all of the designs for godlike heads, and that hey had allowed some skin(and hair for death/fire godlikes) customzation

Well nobody is going to die because they did not add all the previous options from the first game.

But it took me 2-3 hours to create this character back when I started because of the massive amount of choices. I really took my time creating him, so I am annoyed by the fact that I can not play this character.

I can not replicate him and he looks like another dude completely. I do not even mind the new headshape, just the fact that he can not change the damn color. I might as well play an elven female now.

It really does turn me off of the game.

what massive choices? outside of looks the level of customization is pretty much the same, with the addition of eye color and different stances

also im pretty sure we.. we couldnt change godlike skin color, i recall that just like in deadfire skin color was tied to the kind of godlike u were, and unlike the 1st game moon and nature godlikes in deadfire have access to all normal hair options

Dude, I take long to decide who I want to play, you apparently not. The choice of your characters background, race, profession, prefered deity, his stats, his skills etc.... whats not "massive" enough for you?

If you can go into a game like this and just : Ill play a bald headed human fighter and be done with it fine... i can not. I tried out multiple classes/races and combinations. From mage, to hunter, to monk etc. with different races and backgrounds in mind.

I ended up with my death godlike cypher and I deliberated why it was a godlike and why it was a death one at that.

I am talking about Part I of PoE if you are confused (since it has no stances).

And no you could not change Godlike skin colour, but Death Godlike had 3 heads to choose from. They adapted the first two (which were puprle) but they completely revamped the red one. The portrait still exists but the head looks different. It now has a mouth and a nose for some reason. No more long horns neither. It is also purple instead of red. Its a different guy.

I would even start a new guy, but the prologoue immediately shoves it in your face that you are the watcher from PoE I. I can not even start "fresh" without knowing in the back of my head that it should be my Death Godlike.

I tried replicating my female hunter, which works to a satisfying degree, but I never finished that playthrough, so its useless to me.

Meh should have bought pathfinder

all of those are still in this game, and thats not really massive

deity only applies to people of priest class and profession/background are the same thing(i think you mean background and culture)

its pretty much just regular RPG customzation options: race/species, gender, apperance, class, stats, then we have background and culture/nationality

like i said, they redesigned a lot of stuff, 1 of them being the death godlike head you're talking about, it is present in the game, but it looks different and they didnt give it an updated portrait

horns point more up than back and curve down instead of inwards, skin fits the new pale corpse-like look, but unless you really want a perfect replica of your PoE1 that should suffice no? would it be that hard to RP that ur horns changed over the 5 year gap?

also all of the old male death godlike head options had visible mouths and noses

you can just choose the head that is the most similar or just refund the game my dude idk what else to tell ya other than characters in kingmaker are really weird looking, and i say this despite loving the game, lots of classes have really weird outfits and some races look very off

First of all:

While "massive" is certainly a word subject to discussion, compared to some "rpgs" the choices are massive. Compared to others they probably are not.

Deities do apply only to certain classes, but I ofc went through all of them when deciding wether I wanted to play a priest or not. So they still factored in my decision making process.

And I love how you call this still "normal" but unless you play a crpg these days, its a lot of choices compared to some other "rpgs". But lets not discuss this now, as it would go beyond OP.

Second: I have the feeling you are okay with the character creator, so I had to assume there was a reason for it. And I felt it was more accurate to assume you focused less on the importance of your main protagonist, than to call you a corporate shill (:P).

Third: Thanks for taking the time to actually try compare old and new pics, but you mistake the heads. The original head for the "new" one you posted was: http://orcz.com/File:PillarsofEternityDeathsUsher.jpg

I think. It still has mouth and nose+ the horns fit too.

The original portrait (and the ingame head in PoE looks exactly like this) is depicted here:

https://boards.fireden.net/v/thread/409686486/

And this is the replacement they have now: https://youtu.be/E6DiK-b5y2k?t=41 (cant find it otherwise; head is at 0:42, it looks the same for male)

As you can see, the head lost the horns, the "red" is basically gone and for some reason there is now a mouth and a nose (which the original head never had, you just linked a weird picture).

Wether or not the head you linked or the head I linked are the replacement for "my" head from PoE I it clearly looks completely different. As said, there was no mouth and no nose.

I checked this twice today in the original PoE game.

Its just a different head period. It might be "superficial" but imagine your human character looking completely different from one game to the next. Like a bald old guy with a grey beard brown eyes and a scar in his face, suddenly transforms into a young guy with long blonde hair with blue eyes and no beard.

How is that still acceptable?

Just pretend something happened to your character between PoE1 and PoE2. Roleplay it out...
👌m8 Dec 14, 2018 @ 7:14am
Yeah, I had the similar problem too where my character was a red death godlike, but I guess I have to start over PoE 1 since the whole "i changed into another being" isn't my thing for roleplay. lol

well the way the story goes , seing u die at and get put back when you work for the gods, so you could say when you come back your in a new body, as your old one died in the intro. That was done that way so you could make a new character and it would work RP wise. Its the same soul different body. So being mad that they dont have the same skin tint is abit of an over reaction when its soo easy to justify the change RP wise.

Yeah, no need to pretend anything. Between PoE 1 and 2 you die, and only thanks to Berath you get a second chance. However, Berath cannot restore you fully, since your souls are not complete [yet]. That's why you are asked whether you remember your former self. You, player, may remember 100%, but the Watcher doesn't remember it all. Accept the minor differences of your appearance.
