Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire

View Stats:
metaphysics or arcana ?
played it twice now and cant figure what to give priest and wizard to increase spells damage ?

and the wiki was written by some nerd in a wizards hat roleplay typing...

Metaphysics is an passive Skill in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. A young field of knowledge, Metaphysics deals with animancy, adra, the Wheel, the In-Between, the Beyond, and all mysteries of the soul.

Arcana is an active Skill in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. Arcana covers knowledge of all things magical that do not deal with metaphysics. In combat, it can be used to increase the power level of scrolls.

i mean ffs sake what does that tell me ?

sod all

i simply want to know what they affect ?
yet 2 hours of searching and reading and not a single jot of actual info ?

every post devolves into a D+D circle jerk

neither increase "damage" of spells, i think only pure stat responsible for +aoe/duration is intellect.

Metaphysic/arcana allows you to get bonus dialogues/checks during game, arcana also responsible for power of scrolls you can cast from quickslot. So all in all practically arcana is more usefull.

Though to be HONEST, they belong to different groups, arcana is in practical and metaphysics in secondary group. All skills in practical group affect items/skills. So you can raise them both every level, no need to choose between them, neither increase damage of spells as far as i know.

Something important worth knowing. A lot of unique item properties scale off passive skills.

Metaphysics is actually the stat the governs the most powerful melee staff in the game (and it's a complete beast). So depending on your build and the items you have, you want to raise certain passives.

Some equipment scales with certain skills. I know at some points certain quest interactions rely on you (or someone else) having a decent level in a certain category. For metaphysics, as mentioned above, ther is a staff which becomes insane with high metaphysics and the animancer bow in port maje has damage that stacks with metaphysics. Both weapons are great.

If that helps, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere Arcana is supposed to increase the power levels of Scrolls.

You can literally hover you mouse over just about everything in the game and it will tell you what it does. Who needs a manual?

Are they not good reading material for when you are on the can?

Wiki on the phone is good enough for me.

Do you have a deadfire manual on it?

You my good Sir have been caught in a fungaloo. You have just admitted to having two manual like sources on your phone even though you said and I quote,

"You can literally hover you mouse over just about everything in the game and it will tell you what it does. Who needs a manual?"

You also answered "yup" when I asked if you have a manual on it [your phone].

Thus for your inconsistencies we shall smack you with the book of Justice.

LONG LIVE THE PRIME ORDER!

...Getting a little excited there, aren't you? I've used those wiki's to help complete difficult quests or find rare items. Are those things you find in a manual?

Yes, definitely. And like you said you equate those 2 things as a manual when you answered my question with "yup".

We should start making wanted posters to put up in taverns so the Rose Order of Knights can find you.

Muahahaha. I like your humor friend. I think you're thinking more of a guide than a manual. When I used to buy discs, a manual simply gave instructions on how to install/play thee game, maybe a bit of lore to set up the story. I really don't think a manual gives spoilers of any kind.
