I'm seeing "Its a conspirancy!" coming from both the "Steam is trying to bury it" crowd and the "The game cheated its way onto Steam" crowd. I'm lost.

There are some reviews that scare me. There are some that make me think the game is awesome. What sort of things are in it that I might have to / want to do as the main character? Is it fun? I read a lot of swearing and wonder how smart the MC can be. Anyone still here have any advice on buying yes or no?...
