Can't play the game

Running on w10 is nightmarish. If I straight up launch the game fresh of installation it will crash back to desktop. I found out about that -window launch command which, yes, does make it work, but the sceen is all glitched and decentered. Any advice?

Find the .exe, left click on it and search for a "run in Windows 7 compatibility mode" or something.

Yea I did that too but doesn't seem to solve anything

not sure if itl fix it it but it might. i played it on windows 10 and it worked more then fine

I've got the same problem and it's maddening. AOR doesn't help either. -window is a hot mess. Renaming the intro .bik file... nope. Changing the rez in the config... nope. Only safe vid drivers I can use for my aging GeForce are Microsoft issued... So... nope. Old game is kicking my butt. I am weak for lack of precious blood.

I THINK I DID IT... But I'm not sure what worked. Here's the flow. I installed AOR. Nope. I installed DGVOODOO2 http://store.steampowered.com. Nope. I went into the videos folder and renamed intro.bik and logo.bik so that the game doesn't run them. Nope. I then went into the main file directory and edited the masquerade config screenWidth= and screenHeight= to my display resolution. Nope. Now... here's the weird thing that may have worked. I also on a whim changed the driver=rlDirect.dll setting to driver=D3D9.dll and tried to run it. Nopearrgh. Then driver=D3D8. NOPE! BUT... I THEN changed the setting back to driver=rlDirect.dll. Magic happen! Let me know if this is comprehensible and if it works for anyone else. Also if it does go tell the poor souls over at GOG about it too... while searching for a fix I found the same issue was driving them bonkers as well. YMMV. Christof can whine again! Hurrah! :D

Also, go ahead and rename all the videos. They crash the game.

One more thing... in my method I've found any of the .bik video sequences still crashes the game. I just renamed them all so they don't run. I've seen them anyway. If anyone absolutely wants to view them and hasn't, they will run in many video players.

The game is def playable, but I still get random crashes all the time
